HARRISON CO., Miss. (WLOX) – This week’s WLOX Game of the Week features two undefeated sides that are set to battle for the first time as district opponents.
#2 D’Iberville is 8-0 all-time against #3 West Harrison as the two sides get set to create a new chapter as 7A opponents. Both are off to an undefeated 5-0 start to the 2025 season, but neither coach is keeping track of records.
“Every single approach to every single game is the same for us. We have a standard here,” said D’Iberville head coach Josh Ladner. “As long as we meet the standard, then everything is going to be fine. We’re trying to be 1-0 every week, and no offense to anyone else, but whoever’s on the schedule next is who we’re trying to beat, and that’s just how it goes.”

“We’ve got the same goal every week,” explained West Harrison head coach Quincy Patrick. “Right now, we’re 0-0, and we want to be 1-0 at the end of this week. So, I don’t even want to give any thought to what we are overall. I just know that right now we’re 0-0, and hopefully, at the end of the game Friday night we’re 1-0.”
It’s a best-on-best matchup. The Hurricanes have been putting work in on the ground, with guys like Jordan Stapleton and Sean Fairley keeping the chains moving almost every play. For the Warriors, they’ve made a living on a lockdown defense — especially when it comes to the run game.
“Jordan Stapleton and Jazear Carter are going to do Jordan Stapleton and Jazear Carter things all the time,” said Patrick. “They’re just blessed. They’re truly, truly blessed, but we have a great team, and I want all of our guys to step up, and they have been stepping up all year. So, I expect the whole team to step up. Hopefully, the head coach can step up as well.”
“I can’t really point to one thing,” noted Ladner. “Jordan is an exceptional athlete, but we have several, and all of them put together make a great backfield and a great team. You can’t forget the offensive line and tight ends. My Xs that block well and run well. It’s really the whole thing.”
Two teams enter Friday’s contest, but only one will leave with its clean record intact.
Kickoff between D’Iberville and West Harrison is set for 7 p.m. CST on Friday at West Harrison High School Football Field.
