In Cyberpunk Altiera 'Alt' Cunningham, though famous for her creation of Soulkiller, was also one of the best programmers/netrunners of her time, being able to create new concepts as well as code.
Ward Cunningham (full name: Howard G. Cunningham) is the real life version of her.
He's the creator of the first Wiki (which somehow isn't Wikipedia) called WikiWikiWeb which is important because it was the very first user-editable website.
He's the co-author of the 'Manifesto for Agile Software Development' which is basically the gold standard of how to do netrunning software development.
He's credited with the idea of "Cunningham's Law": "The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer."
idk. I just happened to stumble upon the man who was probably the inspiration for Alt and couldn't find any mention of him in the sub so I thought it would be a pretty cool thing to share.
(EDIT: So /ethornber pointed out to me that the character was created before the achievements (1988 vs 1995+) which makes this so much weirder and has led me to the conclusion that Mike Pondsmith is a wizard.
PS. A few more fun facts:
In 2013 he joined a company named "New Relic" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He worked at a company(Tektronix) that invented the world's first triggered oscilloscope, a device for "capturing information on electrical signals for debugging, analysis, or characterization" ( ͡°( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ͡°)
He also coined the term 'technical debt'; small mistakes/deficiencies at the start will cause big troubles down the road.
The term Wiki is actual Hawaiian, which mean 'quick'. Ward Cunningham chose to name WikiWikiWeb based on his memories of the 'Wiki Wiki Shuttle'(= very quick shuttle) at Honolulu International Airport.
