CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A teenager shot while playing video games over the weekend has died, and the alleged shooter now faces a murder charge, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Yosue Ramos, 20, was arrested on Sept. 21 and originally charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a stolen weapon. He was accused of shooting 16-year-old Jeremiah Gonzalez in the head and arm around 3:40 a.m. at a home on East Todd Lane.

According to the original affidavit, Gonzalez was laying on the bed with his brother, another teenager, and Ramos playing video games. Ramos allegedly brought two handguns and, according to one of the other teens, had a history of pointing unloaded firearms at them and pulling the trigger.

After the shooting, Ramos allegedly left with one of the guns. The other was left on the bed and found to be stolen, according to court documents.

A red SUV seen leaving the home was found outside of Ramos’ apartment, where he was arrested.

Gonzalez died from his injuries on Sept. 25. That day, Ramos was then charged with first-degree murder.

A GoFundMe created by family described Gonzalez as “a bright, kind, and loving young man.”

Ramos was scheduled to be in court for a first appearance on the new charge on Sept. 26.
