Borderlands 4 has billions of weapons—yes, with a ‘b’. There’s something for everyone, whether you prefer to skulk in the shadows with a sniper or get up close and personal with a slugger that sends bullets ricocheting into ripper skulls.

Yet nobody seems to like the new Order weapons. If you’ve miraculously avoided stumbling onto a dozen or so of these paper weights in your carnage across Kairos, they require charging before you can fire, which, on an automatic weapon like an assault rifle, slows everything down to a crawl.

“I’m having a great time playing this game,” u/kvnklly prefaced their post. “But I feel like it takes forever for me to get guns that I want to use because they are either Ripper or Order.”

“The Charge Feature On Weapons Does Not Feel Good At All”

All of the vault hunters pull off a pose in Borderlands 4.

With nearly 1,000 upvotes at the time of writing, and countless other posts like it scattered across the subreddit, it’s clear that they aren’t alone. “I immediately sell Order weapons,” replied u/Tancrad. “Charge to fire feels bad if they don’t destroy everything when hit,” u/The1Ski explained. “I don’t ever want to sit there charging up a fu**ing SMG,” u/hydruxo put it plainly.

If you’re fond of more experimental weapons, you should grab the Rainbow Vomit, which splurges elemental projecticles almost like a grenade launcher.

Granted, people are a bit warmer to Order snipers, with some fans even describing them as the “best” in the game. But in the heat of the action, many argue that a charge weapon is just frustrating, especially compared to how satisfying some of the other manufacturers and their quirks are, like Jakobs.

Some have pointed out that you can “just tap the trigger” to shoot without charging, but, as u/Dwarvo said, that feels “weird” at first and takes some getting used to, because it fires after you let go, rather than when you pull the trigger. Still, as u/Mamalo0o noted, “Order can hit pretty hard if you use it like that”.

It’s been a sticking point since the game launched a little over a week ago, as the series’ subreddit was immediately met with posts like “Order weapons are not fun”, as fans argued that a manufacturer’s entire gimmick being that you have to charge their weapon was a bizarre choice.

But others say that it’s a “skill issue”, and when you get a handle on charging, Order weapons are devastating, especially when spliced with Ripper mods. Wherever you land, with billions of guns—again, big ‘b’—there was always going to be a few that people didn’t like. And those few turned out to be the Order’s.
