Hey r/Cyberpunk,
I recently quietly cold-released a book I've been working on for the past few years, Kowloon VOL. 1: The Crumbling Walls. I wanted to share it with this community as a long-time lurker.

The World of Kowloon

The story is set in a vast, underground slum-city almost a kilometre beneath Hong Kong. After almost a thousand years of isolation, its society has regressed into dynastic imperialism, ruled under the Mandate of Heaven proclaimed by a new religion: Dongism.
They have been cut off from the surface for so long that the world above has forgotten Kowloon, and Kowloonis have forgotten what the Sun's light feels like. Into this isolation rises the Yang, a radical sect of Dongist fundamentalists who believe the prophet Songzu Dong, eight centuries ago, hinted in his final revelation at Kowloon’s grand return to the surface, reunited under God. Many dismiss this as mere religious conspiracy, yet the Yang are determined to make it real through a mass exodus that the Emperor will stop at any cost.

The story is a bit different from your average Cyberpunk. While most cyberpunk stories focus on critiquing materialistic excesses and rampant liberalism under late-stage capitalism, I wanted to focus on critiquing the politics of religion, theocracy and imperialism. I plan to write 4 parts, with the 2nd book nearly done. I honestly don't aim to boost sales or anything with this post, just for people to be aware of what I'm trying to put out into the world. Since this is debut work, outside of paperback and ebook you can buy on Amazon, I've uploaded the entire story on internet archive for free reading.
Thank you for reading this.
