A $20k ranked LAN just completed earlier today in Yancheng, China. This event included one team that was quite close to a potential major invite. However, for some reason only the grand final got listed on HLTV. Due to VRS using HLTV data, matches only actually count if they get listed on HLTV, so this effectively means that HLTV decided that the early stages of this tournament aren't actually ranked, even though the event met all the requirements for ranking and was advertised to all the attending teams as a ranked event.

This means FengDa only has 1 LAN win added to their record even though they actually had 3 wins, and 2nd place team Just Swing gets 0 LAN wins instead of 2. These uncounted wins include wins against the highest ranked team at the event, Kaleido, which likely would have been pretty impactful on FengDa and Just Swing's rankings. And Kaleido themselves don't have any of the wins or prize money counted for their 3rd place finish at all.

Luckily, since Kaleido only got 3rd place, I don't believe this will impact major invites, but it definitely affects invites to future Asian events and qualifiers. Though if Kaleido had instead won the event, then this decision by HLTV likely would be affecting major invites, as 3 LAN wins + $15k prize could have put Kaleido into the major invite territory, while only 1 LAN win likely wouldn't have.

I understand that HLTV doesn't want to put every single match on their site, but when their data is also being used for the ranking, that decision to not cover certain matches ends up being really impactful. Considering the only necessary data is team rosters, match winners, and prize money won, I don't really understand why HLTV is necessary to keep VRS functioning. Why can't the TOs just have a way to send their data directly to Valve?

I should add that it's technically possible this could have been a mistake from the TO rather than HLTV, but this is far from the only ranked tournament that's had this sort of thing happen to their earlier stage matches, and it's clear that some of the omissions are entirely just due to HLTV, so it's likely just going to keep happening if nothing is done about it.
