I swear at this point gaming companies should group together, patenting everything with a fine print "Usable by anyone, except those related to Nintendo in any way, shape or form."

Having a health bar? – Patent it!

Patenting is the absolute worst thing that happened to gaming as a whole, hindering progress, blocking quality games. This is absolute nonsense.
