BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – LSU and Southern fans are getting ready for a huge day of football in Baton Rouge.

Both teams are preparing to play in their 2025 season home openers on Saturday, September 6.

The LSU Tigers are facing off against Louisiana Tech, while the Southern Jaguars are going up against Alabama State University. LSU is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. The Jaguars’ game in A.W. Mumford Stadium is set to get underway at 6 p.m.

If you are headed to the LSU or Southern campuses, there are several things you need to keep in mind.

LSU GAME DAY REMINDERS

Fans are encouraged to arrive to Tiger Stadium hours before kickoff to give themselves extra time to find a place to park and to make it to their seats.

Before and after the game, streets surrounding the LSU campus will be used for contraflow to get spectators on and off the campus as quickly and safely as possible. You are being encouraged to park in a lot that exits in the direction of wherever you area headed after the game. Dozens of police officers will be on the streets to direct traffic.

May Street, which is located between the LSU lakes off of Dalrymple Drive, is closed for the 2025 football season because of the LSU Lakes Project. Also, the East Lakeshore underpass is closed for all of 2025.

If you plan to use Uber or Lyft to get to LSU, the university does not have a designated ride share app pickup location.

Tiger Stadium has a clear bag policy in place. Only clear tote bags that are smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ will be allowed in the stadium. Fans are also allowed to bring one sealed water bottle that is 32 ounces or one liter into Tiger Stadium.

All gates to Tiger Stadium are expected to open at 4:30 p.m.

SOUTHERN GAME DAY REMINDERS

Southern fans are being encouraged to arrive early for the game to help with traffic flow. Fans are also encouraged to download their tickets to wallets before arriving on campus.

There will be contraflow before and after the game to help get fans in and out of campus. The contraflow will start three hours before the game gets underway.

If you are parking in a paid/reserve lot, you must have your hang tag visible on your vehicle at all times. If you don’t have a hang tag visible, you could be towed or ticketed.

During tailgating activities, glass containers are not allowed. Officials with Southern University said that broken glass can become a safety hazard for fans and for students on campus. Fans are also prohibited from tailgating on sidewalks, bike paths, and landscaped areas.

A.W. Mumford Stadium has a clear bag policy in place. This means that fans are only allowed to bring in bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12.” One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags are also allowed.
