I’m a retro collector and have had a passing knowledge of and appreciation for the Commadore 64. Just recently I learned the brand had been revived and two new systems were being released.

The Commodore 64 Ultimate: https://www.commodore.net/product-page/commodore-64-ultimate-basic-beige-batch1

And Commodore 64x: https://www.mini-itx.com/store/c64x?srsltid=AfmBOopygtU4Vwn20-ENrIrduoUSp-O5KIjr7_RpFmQo–4aH61cLFWK

The ultimate looks incredibly cool and far beyond what companies such as Atari have brought was the 2600/7800+ and various emulator rereleases. However with the promise of being able to play 10,000+ games it makes me skeptical as I don’t know if the c64 had that large of a library and if so, why bother making a useable cartridge port?

The 64x however I can’t make much of a judgement as I don’t know much about computers. Seems like a very niche but interesting concept. I’m curious about the prospects of using the souped up Infinity version as a normal computer and how it could stand up to trying to build an equivalent, or better, PC yourself?

What’re y’all’s thoughts on these systems?
