In Washington, their National Night Out event started at 6:00 p.m. There are games, tents, and all kinds of activities.
This is something that the event planners say is very important to keep the community unites.
This is an opportunity for them to come out, and to spend time with those officers one on one, play games, enjoy food. And participate in activities just to get to know each other.
Sarah Godley is the crime prevention community outreach administrator for the city of Washington. And she says that this is an event that everyone can look forward to.
So if you weren’t planning on coming out tonight, there is still time. Godley encourages you to come and get to know your local officers, and even enjoy a hotdog cooked right here by the town mayor.
