It is actually very impressive. How did they get it to look that bad?

Mac’s aren’t designed for games, so even with their impressive specs this level of ~~crap~~ performance is pretty impressive

Depends which chip, but some draw like 15w of power, so 30fps on medium settings while only drawing 15w is pretty mad

I mean. It runs at Switch 2 quality. For a machine that doesn’t have dedicated gaming anything, it’s pretty decent.

  5. Well, Macs are not designed for games. They are machines to work, not play.

Not that I’m defending Apple, but that is a fact.

    MBP M4 Pro.

Game runs with high specs on 60 fps.

  7. The day Mac will be a respectable gaming platform will be the same day Burger King earns a Michelin star.

  8. “Macs aren’t designed for games they are designed for work” lol… Sure. Keep telling yourself that as you sip your latte in your living room browsing facebook and reddit on your $1800 macbook pro.. Or trying to use Microsoft Word on it for school thinking your are sooooo amazing because you are going to be a… Journalist.

Macbooks are like mall crawler F250’s. With the right workload and software they COULD do some serious shit, but 99 percent of them do the same thing a $90 Chromebook does just to look cool.

And before the 2 of you who do deep LLM learning with the shared memory (which is hella cool), or those 5-8 people who do serious video editing chime in, or the other 20 of you who have aspirations of software engineering and python wizardry, yes I know you guys are out there. This isn’t aimed at you.

  9. especially considering what PC you can get for the same price

(and I’m a Mac user and would never change it for windows for normal use)

lmao, it’s Apple. Nothing more needs to be said.

    “most”

most PC’s arent gaming machines so maybe performance is better on higher end macs with the top gpus? like pc

makes you wonder what the author is trying to accomplish tbh

  12. reddit_fckng_sucks

“Tom’s Hardware” really isn’t “obscure ass” at all, lol. Pretty well known publication.

  13. florence_ow

im so curious that you seem to care about pc specs and performance but think toms hardware is obscure and not a well known and respected publication

As much as i like to shit on Apple, this is impressive, since thats running on integrated graphics (no gpu) i presume.

  15. CryptographerWise345

    thats actually impressive for macs

  16. RandoDando10

In fairness to Mac’s, they don’t have separate dedicated graphics cards from what i understand, its all being done off of the chip in a similar way to using the integrated graphics of your CPU on a regular PC

Not to mention power efficiency lol, we draw like 300w+ off of our GPU’s alone nowadays easily

MacBook m4 max, game runs at 4k ultra and mid ray tracing without path tracing and metalfx on quality at 50-60fps.
Can drop the resolution to 1600p and it’s gonna be at 100 fps or more

This article’s title is trash IMO, “most Apple silicon”, WTF does that mean? You realize there are FOUR generations of Apple silicon, and even amongst each generation, there are multiple tiers of silicon, that range wildly in power and power consumption (and price!). Also, is this a case of “most Apple silicon can run at AT LEAST 30FPS?” So we can assume that some, or even a decent amount can run it at something higher? How much higher? What resolution are you testing the game at???

If you don’t believe me, just switch the title a bit to this: “Cyberpunk 2077 benchmarks show most Nvidia GPUs from the past 5 years can run the game at over 30 FPS on medium settings”

Even if that statement is actually probably true, that tells you squat about the performance of the GPUs… A 3050 probably can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 30FPS in medium settings, specially with DLSS… But then you have a 5090, which can eat the game for breakfast at medium settings, even at 4K. So if your statement can just include every single GPU, it ends up telling you next to nothing. “Nvidia GPUs can run Cyberpunk!” Thanks for the news, guy!

It’s an Soc, that’s actually very impressive
