Pc hardware is in a very weird place compared to other products. Consumers can look up benchmarks and see that one cpu and gpu is indisputably better than the competition and at that point I see zero reason for people to buy the competition unless it is cheaper or there’s supply problems. That means cpu gpu makers have to deal with sales that can ping pong from amazing sales to down the gutters in the span of two years.
It’s unfortunate because if Intel goes under amd being the only cpu maker won’t be good for consumers.

I think i can see my buy of the ryzen 5800x here… very happy about the upgrade from a ryzen 2600

The 5600 is still popular
And for a good reason too

It’s so strange that this is actually happening. AMD has been better than Intel before but the mainstream consumers were still buying Intel back then.

I’m not really sure why they discontinued the 5800x3d and 5700x3d. Those chips really pushed AM4 to its limits and now they’re not easy to get. I wonder how much representation they’d have on this list if they were available.
The 7800x3d and 9800x3d being top seller is really unexpected.
You need very high end card like 4090 or 5090 to push them to near limit.

I do not really understand the 7800x3d and 9800x3d unless you’re getting a crazy GPU to go with it.
I see these builds on here with a 5070 and 9800x3d. I was building my dad’s pc for ultrawide gaming and it didn’t seem like most games would have much a difference between a 7700x or x3d with a 5070ti

Doesn’t help that intel chips have been cooking themselves after 9-12 months of use. I don’t want to gamble when I buy an expensive piece of computer hardware I expect to last for 6-10 years

The 5600 still being up there suprises me

7800x3D and 9800x3D are alone holding up for 40% of the sales, can’t say they don’t deserve it

Don’t forget, this is only enthusiast PC’s… OEM still buy Intel by the boatload as well. But in general, there’s a trend for AMD..

This is not good for the consumer, we need competition

Am4 is clearly far from dead, they need to pump out more chips on that platform, prices of 5700x3d too high.
Ai-on
I’m happy to be a part of the 9800x3d sales.

I always wanted a 5800X3D, but always missed the opportunity. After copping a 5800X for $125 last Summer, I’ve been satisfied with it especially because I do a lot a visual design and gaming.

Oddly strange to see the Ryzen 7 5700G so far up the list.

Interesting that the 5900g is 100 cheaper on amazon

That’s 350 intel to 11640 AMD. 3% market share for Intel here. Wow.

I’m at the point of my life where the SKU name changed by Intel have totally wrecked any interest because it’s just a bother to figure out where things fall in the product stack.
It’s a glimpse to see how backwards they are in priorities where rebranding as far away from what worked for them since 2009 is what they see as important instead of, I don’t know, consider releasing their own 3D cache processors and such.
There’s always some ebb and flow with who’s on top in the CPU scene but Intel ebbed when they should have flowed with their latest series and it’s really putting them behind in nearly every sector.

If Intel stops making competitive cpu’s then we will all be f’d, just as badly as when AMD was on its knees and Intel was dominating. Gotta have 2 competing cpu makers. AMD like Nvidia are not your friend.

Well, let’s hope Qualcomm or some other tech company working on the mobile market, they will smell the blood and take the opportunity, jumping on the CPU market. The more competition, the better, AMD was considered a piece of shit not so long ago. At least three major competitors per segment, that’s the ideal

Idgaf who’s selling how many of what to other people. Make the best performing product and you’ll have my attention (and maybe my money, too).

Where’s the Steam Hardware Survey? Wasn’t Mindfactory on the verge of bankruptcy a few months ago?
Anyone could do this shit in notepad with spare time… Not hating or anything… Just a bit of critical thinking. Wife has a 5800x3d rig so I’m not one to favor brands.

Why are some processors listed twice?
