Although Uchil didn’t mention Call of Duty by name, the reference to Minaj is undoubtedly a reference to Activision‘s game, which has featured numerous crossover Operator skins (including Minaj) in recent years.
While the Call of Duty series has featured numerous celebrity appearances and crossovers in the past, the number of occurrences has risen sharply in recent years, most notably in the form of Operator skins allowing the player to play as various celebrities and characters.
In the past few years, crossover skins added to COD have included Lionel Messia, Paul Pogba, Neymar Jr, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, NBA star Kevin Durant, superheroes from The Boys, Snoop Dogg, Lara Croft, Spawn, Ash from The Evil Dead, Skeletor from Masters of the Universe, Lilith from Diablo, Paul Atreides from Dune, Cheech and Chong, various WWE wrestlers, Michael Myers, The Terminator, Squid Game characters, Seth Rogen, Jay and Silent Bob, Beavis and Butt-Head and characters from American Dad.

> “It has to be grounded,” Uchil explained. “That is what Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 was – it was all soldiers, on the ground. It’s going to be like this,” he added, pointing to the artwork.
>“I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj,” he noted. “Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.”
Is this a sign of the industry healing?
How about no skins and let us create our own again?
Well I shall see how it is in a few years or months, I do look forward to the game, I think there’s going to be a free open beta too which is nice, so.. hoping BF6 is one of the good ones, loved BF1
I hope none of the stupid skin choices CoD made ever come close to Battlefield.
All words so far.
Only skins & camos from real-world military outfits around the world. Please!
What’s this feeling? Hope?
They’ve already shown skins that aren’t grounded.
They’re not CoD level absurdity, but they’re not great.
And now all of r/gaming is fooled again because of pandering answers in an interview for a new game in a series that hasn’t been good in a long time. All while they’ll continue calling other people idiots for doing the same exact thing with another series they don’t like.
And people wonder why the corporations are winning
If I’ve learned anything from Fortnite it’s that people want stupid shit.
Shouldn’t even have in game purchases its an expensive game.
I remember Activision saying that for CoD aswell, now we got the dumbest skins
I give it like 3 months after release before the first goofy skin gets the ball rolling and the execs get dollar signs for eyeballs again.
We’re so fucking back
Thank good
Watch Nicki have another crash out due to this comment
COD only has them because people buy them. If EA execs think people will buy crossover skins, they’ll have crossover skins
Grounded collab confirmed
this will entirely depend on whether or not people purchase the grounded MTX. there is a good reason every other FPS under the sun is selling the more out there MTX. it’s because the grounded cosmetics don’t sell nearly as well. It doesn’t matter what the dev teams intentions are, EA will come down real quick and force the pivot if people don’t vote with their wallets.
Too bad the shareholders decide the skins and not the directors.
It’s ok to be cautiously optimistic and not pre-order the game. I really will never understand anyone who pre-orders games.
Don’t believe it. The skins by nature will get more and more detached from reality.
They’ll start with regular stuff, but their shareholders will not let them leave money on the table. They WILL climb the treadmill of premium effects and fancy materials on more and more outlandish skins.
We will see
Nicki Minaj should be in jail, so yeah, I don’t think it needs her either.
Include me in the screenshot when this ages poorly please!
