Valve likely remaking de_cache for CS2 from scratch. New smartprop debris model references found in “de_cache_s2” map file (original FMPONE remake didn’t use smartprops)

  1. How many iterations has cache gone through at this point without being in the map pool?

  2. Re-making it is a probability, but I highly doubt it’s from scratch.

  3. Or…… They are making adjustments to the preexisting map and that involves smartprops?

  4. Valve aint remaking shit, they took the only piece of code from CSGO that worked and shoved it into their “better” Source 2.0..

They are delusional, and think they are better than they actually are.. they are at the start of the belle curve, riding nepotism to the top and then bringing everything down with their utter complete incompetence, thanks for playing, touch some grass.

There’s absolutely NO REASON to make that map from scratch. It’s really fucking good, although it may need some tweaks.

    Mirage: Barely touched since 2013.

Cache: Remade fully, twice, since being added to the game in 2014 and Valve are like ‘Nah it’s just not up to date with our Source 2©️standards, we gotta redo this ourselves’

I don’t think so that they won’t use the existing version they bought. Months or years of work just to delete it?

Actually it’s a good news. The FMPONE version is so laggy

they gonna make it smaller to fit the mr12. ever tho cache was quite a fast map.

  10. obviously valve is making changes to cache. i dont think it wouldve been competitively viable the way FMPONE made it originally

  11. baza-prime

wouldnt be entirely surprised, that version of cache was pretty rough

It’s possible they’re using some stuff from fmpones version. They did purchase it so they have every right to use anything from that version.

Either way, valve are probably remaking the map in a way that keeps visual ideas from fmpones version, while matching the current style of new cs2 maps. I think valve are more likely to remake most of cache but it will probably end up looking mostly similar and running much better than fmpones version.

I highly doubt they are starting from scratch, they are most likely making adjustments. Otherwise I don’t see why they’d wait for FMPones version to be finished before acquiring it

Cache was really fun was a pug map but I feel like for pro play in 2025 it might be limited

  15. Probably to optimize the map. Possible they are turning FMPONEs geometry into smart props to help with performance since the cs2 remake of cache has had bad performance.

  16. TensionsPvP

Knowing Valve they will want to do things their own way and Remake Cache themselves instead of editing Fmpone’s work.

  17. i wish valve communicated a bit more so morons like gabefollower stop throwing their stupid baseless claims around for attention. he is wrong like 99% of the time, he just makes shit up for attention xD

  18. Can someone explain what smartprops are? Is it for example a bunch of bricks that can shatter when naded? What’s a smartprop and how is it different from regular props?!

  19. Good. Fmpones version looked horrible IMHO

Not up to cs2 map quality. Too busy. Too many things going on. Too many textures. The fire barrels looked bad

  20. ZlionAlex

They’re def just tweaking it, this is by definition not “from scratch”
