Schreier is a bit of a shit but has good sourcing generally.
Personally I really wasn’t a fan of infinite despite loving 1 and 2, so I am not exactly optimistic.
Over a decade is nuts too, and doesn’t bode too well re: overcooked and underbaked.

It’s interesting reading Schreier because he’s touched on projects/things I’ve worked on and it’s usually like, “Well, that’s not how I remember that going, but… it’s obvious someone in that room talked about it with him, so…”
People can dump on him all they want because he’s too left, not left enough, too games, not games enough, whatever. All I can say is: good odds that what he reports is fairly accurate and fairly true. That’s more than can be said about 90% of the “reporting” on games these days.
And frankly, I’m glad he calls out the industry primarily for its practices. GOOD. We deserve it.
However, I disagree slightly with “grossly mismanaged AAA pile from these western publishers.”
The reality is that AAA is mismanaged EVERYWHERE ON EARTH. It’s not just us in the West. Japan, Korea, China, everywhere. AAA is broken because the very nature of AAA is now out of proportion with what people can deliver on time in normal circumstances. Gaming globally needs a rethink.

Internet has a hate boner for Infinite but to me it was a masterpiece even before the DLC. Everything about the story, especially at the end, gave me chills, and that ending was magical for me. Few games have impacted me so emotionally.

I don’t see how you can make another Bioshock after Infinite. The lore is complete, the story is over. Make a new system shock instead, that world can be expanded.

I just hope the end product feels like Bioshock 1&2.
Infinite in a vacuum is a great game but it’s a terrible Bioshock game. Gameplay wise if you didn’t know you were playing a Bioshock game Infinite feels like it’s kinda sorta Bioshock inspired.
Infinites gameplay just isn’t what I’m looking for out of the series. Possibly as a spin of the series it would be good but for a mainline game it’s not what made me fall in love with Bioshock 1 and 2.

It’s the “Western publishers” here that gets me lmao pretty sure capitalist tycoons ruin things no matter where they’re from.

I have zero expectations for this franchise going forward. Series basically ended with Infinite for me. I just replayed the trilogy recently and I think it holds up really well overall although the gameplay in the first one feels pretty dated at this point.

They Bioshock Infinite they originally wanted to make would have been insane, honestly I just want that version of the game, no need to come up with anything new
