…. I turn on low motion blur on my handhelds if they can only reach 30-40fps. Helps it seem more immersive imo

Can someone give me the rundown on why motion blur is shunned in games?
AnythingGlum2469
If a game runs below 60fps, I always turn motion blur on. I would prefer the blur compared to seeing each individual frame lol
tacobellbandit
Ill just say it. I don’t mind motion blur and I don’t mind bloom
Individual-Staff-978
Motion blur is a good feature. Change my mind.

“But I want to see the world blurred each time I move my head, like when I’m drunk from seven beers!”
I don’t have anything against people who prefer it, but I’d rather drink 7 litres of that beer (at which point I’d probably die) than stay watching someone play like that
denkthomas
i think motion blur’s alright if it’s the ‘blur moving objects’ kind and not the ‘blur literally everything when you move your camera’ kind
QuiteFatty
I’m shocked at the number of people who actually like motion blur

Meh, it looks cool in fast paced games

Motion blur is good for racing games, anything where you need to aim with a mouse is a hard NO
WraithCadmus
A little bit of per-object motion blur can look quite good, but given most games only offer “off” or “tumble drier” then I will turn it off. I do wonder whether this is worse on PC where you make small flick movements with a mouse, whereas a thumbstick has some inherent smoothing.

I use it. Feels smoother when moving camera.

I always forget about motion blur when playing a new game. I hop in, turn my camera go wtf oh yeah motion blur is on and turn it off. Motion blur is usually the only thing I touch in the settings

Depends on the game/framerate. High FPS twitchy shooters: no. Lower FPS racing games: Yes.
gamemaniac845
Wait I thought people just had it on if your pc was good, I disable it cause it lags my computer
Some-Project1082
It makes me dizzy and sick to play without motion blur.
VenandiSicarius
Well… I like it…

WHY IS IT ALWAYS ENABLED BY DEFAULT GET THAT SHIT OUTTA HERE DEVS

Motion blur always looks like shit. Every. Time.

For oblivion remastered on the Xbox Series S it provided the illusion that my FPS wasn’t consistently stuck at 30 or lower lol
BIGPERSONlittlealien
I disable HUD too. It’s why my clips will always look unreal.
Palanki96
Never played OW but motion blur is my mortal nemesis. That’s just not how human eyes work
Honestly i disable those 3-4 other settings as well that’s always around motion blur. Vignette, chromatic something, film grain, all can fuck off
SloppityMcFloppity
After spending a decade using a GT 740, I turn on everything in games now. Including motion blur, bloom, lens flares and MFG.
Filip564
No joke motion blur phisically hurts my eyes
SupertoastGT
Some games have horrific motion blur like Just Cause 4, while others have a good per-object blur that mimics what the human eye does. Can’t speak for Overwatch though. No idea if that has a good implementation or not.
