Is v’s shirt a reference to the 1902 film “a trip to the moon”?

No. According to some it represents Consumerism and overconsumption in Night City’s dystopian setting.

I never thought of it this way, but you might be on something.

I think it’s a twisted pacman. If a pill was in the eye and there were some more moony crater features maybe.

Dunno. I figured it wasn’t V’s favorite shirt because of its looks, but because of the memory of getting it. For example maybe V and Jackie got a gig where they klepped a truck full of “merchandise”, but there was a cock up and they hit the wrong truck, one that just had clothes and such in it. Gig failed and no Eddies but they had a laugh about it and kept a couple clothing items as a memento of that day.

I haven’t seen that movie since I was a kid

I think legit the only thing I remember about it is the moon getting hit in the eye. At least I think that happens. I’ll have to watch it again

  6. I thought it was a drugged out tommy pickles from rugrats

Probably not, but it’s a cool connection that the designer of the image would appreciate in the context of the story.

It’s a “crack” head. because of the pills and the literal crack.

I know that it’s probably not a reference to it, I’m just glad someone else had the same thought

I think it’s just supposed to be a fucked up smiley face.

Good catch and hey it’s possible. Both the Moon and V do get a “bullet” in the head.

I’m going with no. I’m not sure where you’re seeing the connection. A face in a circle?

  13. I wouldn’t say so, no of the features really resemble a moon or the moon on the film

  14. It’s supposed to be Pac-Man eating ACTUAL pills, and probably a reference to Akira.

I’ve always gotten a play on the QOTSA broken lightbulb album cover.

I honestly thought it’s a reference to Drop Dead (the clothing brand). But that’s probably far fetched

Alwaysbthought it was a Smiley Face on drugs.

  18. I always saw it as a play off of the old “Smiley Face” t-shirt – V comes from a society that uses a lot more medications to try and make people happy. Vs shirt is saying that it doesn’t work.

    Could be.

I always thought its reference to V, the cracked head, the pills.

  20. Without the rocket in the eye? I doubt it. The imagery that’s always used is the rocket in the eye image. This is unrelated. Just a meth head smiley face.
