Even the PC’s needs have become very limited

  1. I can’t wait for the future where your rear I/O is just a bunch of USB-C ports and then people constantly plug the wrong stuff into the wrong ones and nothing works because they can’t figure it out

Standardization is very VERY good thing. I remember when every mobile phone or smartphone required it’s own fucking charger.

Graphics card need to still come with 2 hdmis man.

  4. CelebrationSpare6995

Imo its a good thing also you missing hdmi and dport amd few others

Yeah I don’t think usb-c has replaced 120v and 240v plugs juuuuust yet.

Also, I had to use a serial to usb adaptor YESTERDAY lol.

Its all going to be wireless.. all of it.. the day of plugging anything in via a cord will come to a end…. even video will be wireless…. i understand that with today’s technology it is not possible…. but we are well on our way to a completely wireless future…

  7. The thing I liked was being able to plug everything in without looking because it was all shaped differently

  8. exFAT_James

No joke, I have plugged in all of those ports shown within the last week.

Be careful who you make fun of in high school 💅

  10. I slightly disagree. If you need an analog out (old crt, etc), you will miss vga.

One cable to rule them all. But I am still using old power cable with C-13 connector. I doubt USB-C is up to handling 110v 1000w yet.

  12. Wouldn’t be so bad if there was a color code for USB-C function.

  13. I remember since the invention of USB, arguing with my parents that a USB connection couldn’t support video. Kinda weird to think that I’ve been fighting with them long enough that now it can

  14. Derpykins666

Honestly, this is a good thing, trust me. Not having the right cables back in the day was a whole freakin’ THING that’s for sure.

  15. Overall_Mortgage2692

As an IT worker, I’m very happy I no longer have to keep 30 shelves of cables on hand

  16. Jirekianu

I mean… if you’re dealing with cutting edge ultra-portable stuff, sure.

But for most things it would be display port, hdmi, various usb connections, and the same sorta power cable as depicted there.

Jokes on you crappy 15inch VGA 720p monitors will outlive 4k monitor popularity.

  18. CapitalistFemboy

I love the fact that all the ports are flexible, without USB-C I could never attach 3 displays, 2.5G ethernet, mouse, keyboard, webcam and the power supply to a single laptop. With USB-C I only need one cable for all of that.

I remember having a monitor that used that weird ass white plug that was like a in between VGA and HDMI it was a pain to find.

I want to see a Desktop PC that can be powered by a single plan USB C charger.

  22. tejanaqkilica

I prefer the old method. Each connector was physically different from each other, so you could easily tell which is used for what.

With the stupid implementation of usb c, you have no idea what you’re getting, until you test it and label it for future cases.

  23. forreddituse2

Misleading. The C13-C14 port can support 3600W without issue (230V@16A), try that through USB-C.

  24. QuietGoliath

    For home users? Sure.

    In industry? I still run into kit that uses D-Sub 15, DE-9, & DB-25
