To be fair, we /did/, and, like… objectively, the system BO6 uses IS ideal because it enables both a dedicated crew and also just letting you fuck around with whoever you want…
But to this day I don’t think I’ve ever had a SINGLE match where I’ve had the full Requiem crew. I’ll get a couple of Weavers and maybe a Grey or two at most. It’d be nice if I could switch on some kind of toggle to make it so the game acts as if the other players are just the remaining members of the crew, but then I guess that’d discourage people from spending money, so, y’know.

I feel like the best course of action that gets the community happy and Activision happy, have a dedicated crew but you can still customize their skins. That way you still have 4 exclusive characters but you can at least customize them or buy cosmetics for them

Only the zombies community would think forcing people to play as 1 of 4 characters is preferable to letting them choose (regardless of how ridiculous the choices are)

Eh I’m okay with the current system. I only play with friends and haven’t touched public lobbies since like black ops 2 but we just stick with the crew operators. And if there’s a friend who picks someone else we’re not gonna throw a fit over it. Though I wish there was an option for the host that forces crew operators because it’s annoying sometimes when we accidentally pick two of the same operator, you shouldn’t have to have a discussion over that stuff.

No pleasing everyone. People hate some of the crews others hated that you can only play as them, giving options is the best way to please the most people. They could give an option which is unlikely to only play as the main crew for the map
