By extreme overlocking I mean with substances like liquid nitrogen and liquid helium.

    For gaming definitely not. For example most 3Dmark scores use an “unstable” overclock that means it can prob work for a couple of minutes before it crashes.

    Gaming requires a stable OC to be able to play for hours unless your okay with playing for a couple of seconds every crash

  2. Coming from a overclocker since sandy bridge… Not as much as it used to. 

    You used to be able to more than double your performance with exotic cooling because you could shove a lot of juice in these chips. 

    Now they just blow up or won’t allow extra voltage. 

    Now a extreme oc with conventional cooling is ~ 12% faster and a xoc is maybe 20%. You don’t get double anymore.

    Yeah back in the day a friend of mine was playing CS:GO and we OC’d his CPU to 5 ghz I think it was like a 6600k and delidded it was a night and day difference

    It depends. On average overclocking is going to net 0-5FPS more on average and is honestly not worth it imo. Extreme overclocking, like flashing a 1000w bios on a 5090 to get RTX6000 levels of performance can give a nice bump. But considering melting of 12pin is a concern at 600w, pushing what ends up being over 800w is a little risky. All that being said, its not really worth it.

    Best thing you can do is max the power slider on a GPU just to get anything left on the table.
