With some savvy FB marketplace shopping, I was able to build a reasonable dirt-cheap gaming PC for my mother. She complained that Roblox kept crashing on her iPad, so here we are.

Parts:
CPU – Intel Pentium G4400
GPU – EVGA GTX 660Ti
RAM – Samsung 4GBx2 2666MT/s
PSU – Thermaltake 500W
Mobo – Biostar crypto mining board lol
CPU cooler – thermaltake idk
Case – NZXT H5 Flow with a shattered panel
SSD – WD Blue 500GB 2.5” SATA

  1. Now she’s going to complain that roblox keeps crashing on her PC.

  2. it is a slight upgrade over a modern ipad, maybe

if it fixes the crashing then you did great

With all the super duper high end rigs I see (and enjoy seeing TBF) – it’s refreshing to see a simple build from a shrewd used parts buyer and to see you helping your mom out.

    Lovely gesture. Game on Mom!

are you using a wide camera cuz that case looks deep asl

  5. Should’ve gone for second hand 3rd gen AMD CPU because Windows 10 updates are going to be EOL on Oct 14, other than that, nice clean setup

Congratulations on her new computer. It may not be very powerful, but if it’s powerful enough for games she plays, it’s good.

  7. LasagnaMacaroonSoup

It can barely handle windows 10 and 11 wdym gaming PC

  8. Good job dude! I like the idea of bringing together old & used parts for games like roblox; Because that’s actually what you will ever need! This way even if a part goes berserk and gives up, the money you will end up losing is $65 at most

I’ve gotta introduce my mom to Roblox. She’s been playing Mario Kart recently, have been trying to get her into PC gaming, but can’t seem to find the game that’ll do the trick.

While that is dog slow by my standards, Roblox probably runs better than she ever imagined it could lol

I wonder why have no went with a simple laptop or a aio pc?

  12. Please consider giving her a better chair, I wish my parents or my wife would enjoy games as much as I do.

Really nice build you needed up with. Looks really clean with the nice case

Just a plug for my guy. Anyone who loves budget build stuff like the “budget builds official” on YT last video was comparing a rex 480 with a HD 7990 I think. They are still bargains to be had out there for 1080p gaming

For a similar setup, the only difference that I would’ve done is a 7th gen Pentium(G4560) instead of a G4400 since that way atleast you would get hyperthreading

  15. You’re just flexing on us with your Noctua fans, man.

    Cool build!

This is awesome. Great budget! Definitely replace the CPU if you get the chance in the future though. Roblox would benefit from it.

Hey OP. Where are you located? Want a 1070 ti at the cost of only shipping?

Feel free to shoot me a message if you’re interested. I once received a GPU from a fellow Redditor awhile back and noticed your mom is using a 660.

Okay but you can’t just gloss over the fact that not only was the CPU/GPU cheap, but that you actually got paid for it!!

  19. It’s a Skylake Pentium so it will actually benefit getting an SSD. $20 for a PNY CS900 240GB and even that pile of random parts can be faster than a $200 cheapo laptop.

  20. Dude, that little note is the sweetest thing I saw all day. Freaking adorable, I love it!

  21. Badger_Joe

Well done, it’s refreshing to see something made from humble parts that does the job.

Love seeing this! I ran windows 10 without an activation key for 7 years and never had a problem might be able to save you even more.

  23. gremlin_666

Overpaid for windows by about 20 but well done 🙂
