I made a thread on here a long time ago when this game got revealed and everyone agreed it was incredibly brazen. So I guess it was only a matter of time until a lawsuit happened and now it has.

Interestingly gamespot is reporting that Tencent tried to license the horizon IP and sony declined and this is presumably where this game's creation took place

SIE further alleged that Tencent came to the company with a pitch to license the Horizon IP, to which SIE declined

  1. Horizon with destiny ghost and some palworld tossed in. I would actually check it out, but the whole vibe of the game is wayyyy to close to Horizon.

That is brazen even for a Chinese company. And if there’s one company you don’t want to try and rip off (bar Nintendo of course), it’s Sony. They’ll demand your niece’s ex-boyfriend’s house in the settlement.

I think it’s clear that certain Chinese companies do not respect/recognize copyright. So what if Sony wins this lawsuit in the Northern District of CA? Can they actually stop the game’s release in other countries?

I guess Sony will be the next company Tencent buys shares in

  5. Oh now everyone loves IP law when it’s China breaking it.

never heard of this title before today, if the lawsuit fails *streisand effect* will carry this game.

edit: lol why the downvote? not like i want it to succeed. this type of lawsuits are pretty hard to prove in court, and such high profile lawsuit is free exposure. how many games had their names po-up on Reuters?

Just a few more years until Sony gaming goes broke. Can’t wait.

It’s *such* a blatant rip-off that I’m impressed they had the guts to do it lmao. Yea Palworld copies the idea of pokemon pretty blatantly, but everything else about the game is COMPLETELY different.

This game is so shockingly similar that I was laughing my ass off the entire time. The vibe/aesthetic is indentical, the combat is SUPER similar, it’s even the same type of overall game. It looks like it leans a little more souls-like than Horizon does, but even so, its hilariously similar

Capcom should jump in too, since this is pretty much Monster Hunter Horizon Zero Wilds.

Can’t wait to find out how this is Nintendos fault.

Isn’t this the one with Elden ring animation

A Chinese company engaging in intellectual property theft?! How very shocking.

  13. Blankensh1p89

The Chinese would NEVER blatantly rip off other things

  14. zxcv15now

Never heard of the game and just assumed Sony was being litigious. After watching the trailer, I was shocked at how ridiculous the similarities are!

  15. Aggressive_Donut_222

The Chinese stealing other people ideas?

I have never been less surprised be something on my life

  16. happy_church_burner

Me after reading the article: ”We’ll how much of a direct rip-off it can be. Sony must be just overtly litigious..”
Me 15 seconds in the video: ”Well.. This looks somewhat similar..”
Me minute in: ”Ok, this is pretty influenced..”
Me 2 minutes in: ”Ohh. Ok. So it’s just directly copied Glinthawks, Sawtooths and Tallnecks.”
Me 3 minutes in: ”Ok so this is just Horizon with some Satisfactory thrown in?”

If it were Nintendo instead of Sony, the most voted comment would be “Nintendo did not invent robotic animals”, but we know there is a double standard here

  18. Wait a min. Where is fuck Sony, like the bitches moan about Nintendo? Did someone say the words double and standards.

I was about to say Horizon isn’t original enough for them to sue anybody… then I saw the art of Light of Motiram. My god, it’s a carbon copy, I genuinely couldn’t tell you that they’re not promotional artworks for the next Horizon if I didn’t know. That’s crazy, even for Tencent.

  20. very_pure_vessel

Chinese will never beat the allegations

  21. Tumblrrito

Not a single image or video comparing the two? Laziest journalism I ever saw

  22. Fabantonio

No need to sue tbh. If this game launches some fuckass like Hoyoverse probably gonna drop something on the same date too and kill all the hype and sales

  23. Lemesplain

I definitely would like to see more games in the vein of Horizon. There’s a lot of room to innovate in the “robot monster hunter” genre.

But this … this is just a copy-paste job. I’m honestly surprised it’s been able to proceed this far.

  24. We called it the day it was announced. And I bet Sony lawyers did receive the same call and were only preparing everything to sue Tencent for a fat amount of money.

  25. Wonderful-Trainer-42

only thing i’m seeing similar is the design. the mechanics look akin to monster hunter worlds.

  26. CJDistasio

Never heard of this game and just looked it up. Holy hell that is a shameless ripoff of Horizon lol
