While the smoke is dispersed it will still cover you and make you hard to see. If you want to just to drive past enemies in your jeep put a smoke grenade in it and it will make you invisible even if the smoke it's not visible.

Maybe the smoke wasn’t close enough to the helicopter 🤷♂️
