That’s exactly where all the anime fighting game slop belongs. These companies would turn Azumanga Daioh into a fighting game if they could because there is not an ounce of creativity left. I don’t care about this franchise but there are so many ones that would make awesome RPGs or ARPGs but they all just make fighting games.

Really sad. This is the type of IP that would work so well with some sort of rpg/adventure game design, with its magic system the way it is, and instead we just get another fighting game.
Imagining an open world HxH game with character creation set in Greed Island… 😋
Mikon77
I like HxH, but I thought the trailer looked awful. The animation looked incredibly stiff.

The more I look at that picture, the more it annoys me. It’s not even the stylistic choice, it’s just poorly done. And of course it is another crappy fighting game with zero good ideas.

Non-fighting game players won’t understand, the game itself is fine and people are having tons of fun.
But the netcode is garbage and the game’s online functions don’t work properly, that’s the issue. It’s also expensive.
It’s supposed to be a broken fihghting game with lots of exploits and everyone knows it is a low budget game, FG players don’t care about this, we just want a game that works properly online.
smellyourdick
it’s netcode is one of the worst we have seen in years and it lacks a lot of content that fighters are used to.
the gameplay itself isn’t bad, the game just doesn’t work online and doesn’t have enough to do.

Sucks that such a great game on a mechanical and developer love level has such awful netcode and so little content
It was great to see a famous anime get a fighting game that’s not just a bad arena fighter but they dropped the ball hard on this game.
It had terrible advertising too, like using the multiplication symbol instead of x, which fucked up Search Engine Optimisation, bad. Game’s not very searchable on steam, and it wasn’t advertised much outside of Japan

So just as much disappointment as the anime
GameBoost_Ninja
Oof, that’s rough

I downloaded the demo and found out the story mode is a PowerPoint Presentation and noped out instantly, fighting was mid too.
thumper_92
The netcode is just terrible for a modern fighting game. Apparently 8ing had like 5 whole dollars to make it, so it’s not entirely on them.

MindsEye and Nen x Impact seems to have a battle for who can disappoint fans the most.
AeroDbladE
This game had a all time peak of 200 on steam. The “worst reviews” are out of 150 people compared to Mindseye’s 1900.
I feel like that’s an important metric to be aware of.
Mostdakka
This game is simply too expensive for what it offers. It’s barebones on single player stuff, the audiovisual quality is subpar and the netcode is unacceptably bad. Don’t buy it. The game will be dead in a month or two and if it’s not then just wait for a sale. There are so many other great fighting games.

Barf, more anime garbage. Not shocked.
DrexellGames
That first trailer alone I had a feeling it wasn’t going to do well
ThereIsCheeseInMyBum
I haven’t tried it but I want give it a negative review from the name alone.

Now that’s an achievement my goodness

What’s sad is that the gameplay offline is pretty solid.
It’s the netcode currently that is very hit or miss for rollback.

Legit could just make Greed Island an actual game, fools.
Blubbpaule
Anime games are slop in 95% of the cases.
It’s making bucks on fan service nothing more.
Never buy anime games.

This whole situation is very interesting to watch as someone who isn’t a hxh fan (yet)
TheSqueeman
Not unexpected, the game fucking sucks & I say that as someone who has played fighting games most of my life
Everything a fighting game could get wrong, this game gets wrong. The biggest disappointment is that 8Ting (the studio who made it) have made some games I really like, especially fighting games, but this is a considerable step down in every department
ThiccThighsEnjoyer_
Man, we finally got an anime game that isn’t just another arena fighter, and it’s this.
If the game was $20 at least, then it would be “fine”, but I don’t know how could they charge $60 for this.
AzeiteGalo
So many good manga/anime IPs that would be incredibly successful as games wouldn’t production think the games would leverage and sell exclusively well because of it being an already successful IP.
