Copying my comment from another post made here:

To remind people and make them aware. This is caused by a few groups in Australia making roughly ~1000 phone calls to each payment provider complaining about it. If we were to all phone we would dominate that number by a large majority.

Edit: also this isn’t even about porn games, it’s about the terrifying precedent it sets about what payment processors can do

Mmm… I hope they are, at the very least, reimbursing the amounts people paid for those games, because otherwise, people are not only stop “licensing” games with them, but they are going to be sued into oblivion. If not by the users themselves, by the EU.

Porn today, dissidents tomorrow. Regulate payment processors as utilities.

People say this is the 90s again, but this is far worse if anyone studied that history.

The 90s crusaders pressured businesses on shaky legal ground that wasnt litigated yet. It took until 2011 for full legal protection for video games to happen in a supreme court case, back when it was far more liberal. There was nothing the crusaders could do except maybe pressure businesses who found controversy made great sales.

The supreme court now said its too hard to police the internet for parents, so the government must do it for them with mandatory ID checks and other laws in other case about this.

The crusaders are now the ones on concrete legal ground. They didnt have that before.

There is a reason they suddenly showed up again, there is no situation where they can lose. Either the games gets taken down on one store, or they go to the supreme court and get EVERYTHING taken down.

If you’re a developer who is not Australian, you might have a case to talk to your politicians about how Australia is affecting your country’s economy.

  6. Actually just legal theft.

Imagine you walk into a store buy a drink and then before you can drink it a representative of your credit card company walks in and pours your drink on the ground and forces the store to only sell it to people who are trading it for government bonds.

It’s absolutely insane that 2 companies can just control all online sales in the modern world.
