I wonder how much the lower price (compared to the rest of the world) factors into this.

“Switch 2 has smashed a new sales record in Japan, this time beating PlayStation 2’s first month”
“It’s worth noting, as highlighted by Katan Games’ Dr. Serkan Toto, this doesn’t include units sold by Nintendo themselves; therefore, the number is likely much higher.”
I’m probably never gonna get the switch 2 myself, but those are impressive numbers.
chinchindayo
Switch 1 had supply issues for a long time though.
NvNinja
That’ll happen when they actually push out enough consoles to meet demand unlike thr switch with its scalping situation so no surprises there
ImpressiveContest613
Biggest console launch ever? Has it broken the pattern of one win, one loss Nintendo had with consoles?
DaniValkyrie
Gee, maybe it’s because the Japanese Switch 2 is cheaper than the one distributed outside of Japan
hemol603
And they said that the switch 2 would fail 😒
Triss_Mockra
Three times faster? They must have painted them red
Big_Stable3442
Switch 2 might break all kinds of records soon.

Angry redditors rushing to type “we’ll see” to look nuanced about the thing they hate selling well.
Gh0st_Pirate_LeChuck
Well duh. Why would you buy a switch 1 when you can buy a switch 2?
lzyan
Switch 2 launched with a GOTY contender and the sequel to it’s predecessor’s best selling title in its first month.
It is objectively a pretty impressive launch lineup for modern consoles
arbitrary_function
OK great. Now announce some more games.
GrandPadano
Can people accept and move on with Switch 2 being a full success and the fact that noone actually cares about the Reddit bubble opinion.
Thoraxekicksazz
It would be nice if we had some new games to go along with the shiny new system…
Routine-Duck6896
I mean its a new console and they got supply this time duhh
Robin_Gr
I wonder if it will sustain in the long run. I can’t imagine it will outsell the switch.
this_is_greenman
I got my switch for taking a demo of a product. Best hour of my life
nemanja694
Am i the only one who keeps forgetting switch 2 exists? I don’t see much talk about it yet it sells lot
xgothicbreenax
I want a Switch 2 so bad!
ABigCoffee
Well yeah cause it’s like 250$ over there. You’d be an idiot not to get one at that price.
baladreams
The price in Japan is very reasonable as I understand
Japresto1991
Imagine if they stopped fucking around and made it capable of what every other system is capable of, movie and video streaming services, Spotify or music services, actual decent 3rd party games. Etc it would sell 5x as much
Thomas_JCG
And yet people will have you believe the console is a failure. I’m not a fan of some decisions taken in this console but it’s absurd to pretend it’s not selling.
Alert_Dust_2423
Yeah, the Switch 2’s numbers are wild, but it makes sense when you compare it to the original’s supply nightmares. No scalper chaos this time around, and with Nintendo’s direct sales not even counted yet, it’s probably even crazier. Even if you’re not buying one, it’s cool to see a console actually meeting demand for once. The PS2 record falling just shows how hungry people were for this.

Another example of how Reddit isn’t real life. A lot of people were really excited for the system, and understand that a better product meant a higher cost.

Yep, this is a big duh with supply issues. Such lazy articles these days..and even lazier to parrot a stupid article here. Use your brain, people.

“Well if you look at the rotation of earth we are going slighty slower meaning the time is more meaning it didnt sell any “console sold in x time” record, meaning the Switch 2 is not a success. Also my friend John dosent have one so it HAS to be a flop”
CycloneMonkey
Oh yeah? Well nintendo are meanie poopie heads, so this is actually not very impressive news. Checkmate, nintendies.

Let’s be fair the switch 2 has had some huge supply compared to any other console launch in memory to me. Usually it’s people want to buy but can’t for a year plus song and dance. This one at least for me I’ve seen it often at the store where you can just buy one.
