Anyone knows if this means the ssd is fake? questioned the seller about it and he threatens me by saying he will contact the police for me harassing him.
At least those performance numbers suggest it’s not a scam with a microsd inside the enclosure because it would be much lower if that was the case. It appear to be a real ssd but probably a super cheap one.
-xX69420Xx-
He’s gonna contact the police? Classic projection. He’s terrified of the police being called, and his scam exposed, so he threatens you with it.
Call the cops on him.
Gigachad599isback
It’s just fake sata SSD with samsung sticker
EastAd3697
Why don’t you call the police. He can’t threaten you by calling the police if he is so scared to answer questions.
Generally, people selling machines and games likes to give out information.
Jimbomodder1
Samsung magician will tell you if it’s real or not, check for updates
USSHammond
That 512 Sata one. Is it a standard 2.5″, or is it a sata based m.2 in an enclosure?
TIGER_SUS
Can we get a picture of the actual drive?
DasHotShot
Based on your chats with this absolute caveman you should force a refund through the retail platform/payment method and also report his threats to the police. He is a scammer and should get fucked as hard as possible.
Kalxyz
Scamming someone for a 512GB SATA is extremely scummy. And yeah I bet it’s fake
in1gom0ntoya
let him call the police, then tell them hes selling fake merchandise
DoktorMerlin
Why are you worried of him calling the police? You didn’t do anything wrong? Let him contact the police about this, they won’t do anything.
Worried_Adeptness_19

I wouldn’t be shocked if the seller lying & bough cheap POS SSD from Temu, or something, and then swap the shell to resell it.
rinrinyun
Go to driver details. Besides or under the serial number, it should say “genuine.”
Return it. Almost always, my experience with fake SSDs/USB is that their capacity is hacked and nowhere near advertised. And their speeds are always slower. I seriously doubt this has 512gb and actually on has 64gb.
Certain_Car_9984
He’s not doing shit and neither is the police, you are in no way harassing him, you are asking valid questions about an item he sold you
Smooth-Ad2130
100% fake

Why you buying SSD’s from a marketplace? 😂
vldtsz
1st step: Download crystal disk mark and benchmark your ssd, screenshot it, compare it with similar results online.
2nd step: For reconfirmation, download hwinfo and select your ssd and compare with a legit one
rostol
yeah it’s a fake chinese 512gb slow nvme.
true 990 speeds should be double those, and size should obviously be 1tb not 0.5
its a kingston drive, the naming scheme is similar to their drives.
ComWolfyX
Yes its a fake if bought as a Samsung drive
Else use diskinfo not Samsung magician it dont work for non Samsung drives
mastermikeyboy
Could also be from a different country. After I moved countries, none of my Samsung drives are recognized anymore. (except the one I bought after the move)
They all worked fine before the move.
They definitely have some region locking.
Revollta
If it is m.2 you can call the police on the seller
You didn’t show the **key page** which is *Drive Details* – if it’s genuine it will show the serial number, firmware version and interface mode.
Even so it’s clearly fake, 0510 is not a serial number!
mcAlt009
Take the L.
Go to Microcenter and buy a real one. This is the risk of FB Marketplace and other peer to peer sales platforms.
It’s not worth arguing with an idiot over 60$. You will never get your money back.
QuazyQuarantine
If he’s threatening to call the cops, he probably committed the crime.
Its like reverse psychology, make you afraid of the police so you don’t call them, when in reality they’re the scammers.
thedreaming2017
Yeah, the fact that they got very aggressive for being confronted by it tells me he’s 100% scamming you. If you used ebay, contact customer service immediately.
Pleasant_Start9544
If a seller threatens you over asking a genuine question, then it is for sure a fake.
Ghozer
If the Samsung 990 is real and your old SSD you have had for a while, and the 512GB SSD is a new one, and SATA (not nvme) then other than it being a bit slow, and a weird chinese name, it seems to be legit…
Samsung magician will only identify Samsung drives… if it’s supposed to be a Samsung drive, then yes, it’s fake!
Ghozer
Charge-back on your card or whatever payment method you made, if it came from Amazon contact them, and get refunded!!
tomchee
Police? Hahahaha
The guy will not contact the poluce.
In fact he will ge happy if police wont be involved:’D
Report him for fraud and ask your m9ney back.
Hope you bought from a place with buyer protection and not in person by cash
Melodias3
Yeah its fake the seller is threatening you, just return it and get your money back and report the seller.
Zezu
Why do people buy “new” electronics from anyone besides a registered vendor of that product? If it’s cheaper, there’s a reason, and it’s not because he’s being a nice dude.
FartOnToast
He threatenedl to call the police? LOL. Make sure to tell him he’s not only a scammer but also a big dumbass, and you also took screenshots of him selling fake products that you will report to the police, since it’s a criminal offence to sell counterfit goods. .
NurglesArmpit
Op. You were scammed. Do a chargeback and block this asshole,
Diligent_Pie_5191
He can threaten police all day. He can eat shite. That scumbag ripped you off. Tell them you will contact the FBI’s cyber crime division. They can pinpoint his location and get international parties involved.

No genuine tag in Samsung Magician. It’s fake. Simple as that. Sellers get scammed by suppliers/logistics as well.
Recently had a 2tb 990pro indistinguishable at a first glance with on par performance metrics. However putting it side-by-side with a genuine one reveals the differences.
By the time I contacted the seller, they were already aware of a particular batch getting compromised and already sent out a replacement to me. The contents of the shipping box got replaced in transit to them.

Bruh, if he threatens you for asking him about his product, then you should worry…
If Samsung magician doesn’t recognise it then yeah it’s most likely fake or there’s something really wrong with it.
Depends on your definition of fake. The 512GB drive isn’t a Samsung drive, that’s for sure. What should it be?
What did you buy? Another 990? Because this is just a 512Gb cheap SATA ssd and based on the values that is kind of what you got.
what have you said to him
Garbo … 300’s for read and 250 write…. something is off for sure. The fact he responded like that should convince you if those numbers somehow didnt.
What platform did you buy this through? eBay? Were all the messages via that?
That 512 is no Samsung SSD, otherwise the name would be written at the top like with your 990 Pro.
With those read and write speeds man even my old old old ssd is faster then that. Thats def no 870 evo.
Amazing he is still talking with you, does that mean you have a way of reclaiming your money? Normally they stop talking once the money is in.
If you paid cheap Chinese SSD price than you got value for money, if you paid a proper price… not so much as it is a cheap Chinese drive.
it’s likely not a Samsung SSD. Check the hardware ID in Device manager, It might give you more info about it.
Mine is like this :
