Me personally, I think they should return and every map should have at least one non-wonderweapon that’s only available on that map.
Map exclusive weapons added so much flair, personality, and uniqueness to maps. Modern zombies has always had an issue with making maps more unique from each other so this could help solve that.
I’m not sure how to make this work with the loadout system. I’m sure camo grinders don’t want them moved out of loadouts. The 2 solutions are to make weapons that only exist in zombies and don’t have camos or make them readily accessible from a wallbuy

Would be cool but unfortunately I don’t think we will ever see it again as the game modes are very homogenized now.
Back in the day there was campaign devs who did zombies maps and vice versa, now the campaigns are done by sword are studios from MP and Zombies.
I don’t think the zombies team has very much over unrelated aspects like the hud, weapons, movements, the engine, graphics, etc.
What they can do to please everyone is have 2 seperate modes a classic where you spawn with only a pistol and then normal which is like new
In that case you can also make certain weapons only appear in the box in some maps
Since multiplayer, Warzone, and zombies are linked for some reason… it’ll never happen.
Map specific weapons made each map more unique, we like Nuketown because of the M27, the mg08 is legendary on origins, the Marshalls are iconic on ZNS.
It’s one of the many reasons why modern zombies is kind of shit
Wonder weapons? Yes. Non wonder weapons? I feel conflicted. I always did want to use the diverse weapon roster from Origins on other maps in bo2 but thats just me. I feel there are other ways to make maps more unique than locking weapons to certain maps arbitrarily so.
don’t worry guys, Black Ops 8 will have— no wait Black Ops 9 is gonna be it guys! I swear! Zombies is back!!!!
Yes, I’d rather have each map with their own selection of weapons rather than having everything filling up the Mystery Box. It’s not that noticeable nowadays since you spawn with the weapon you want, but back in BO4 at the end of its lifecycle, getting the thing you wanted out of the box was a huge pain since every new weapon went straight to the box like in current games.
Imagine something like the PPSh being exclusive to The Tomb, it would’ve given the map a lot more personality.
And for the camo grinding crowd that’s also a good thing for camo grinding because you don’t have to depend only on your loadout or wallbuys, spreading the weapon selection between the different maps would increase the chances of you getting the weapons you need out of the box.
For example let’s say you’re only missing 3 weapons to get all the camos for: The Essex, PPSh and Olympia. With the current system you have to essentially start 3 different games with each gun. But let’s say instead we got a fixed box pool per map, and the Essex and PPSh are both found on The Tomb, so you start with the Olympia and now have a higher chance of getting any of those 2 from the mystery box as there’s now a smaller pool, you no longer have to start 3 games or be ridiculously lucky. It would make the mystery box relevant again! And also camo grinders would actually play more than one map.
There’s literally no reason why this isn’t a good idea.
imo, this should’ve been the norm. it helped create unique identities for bo2 and 3 in the most minimum ways, but it went such a long way
Map exclusive weapons were a massive part of Zombies identity in my opinion. I loved BO3, but I was bothered by attachments system forcing all of the standard weapons on every map. I think BO2 did it best, where every map had a relatively unique assortment of weapons making each of them that much more memorable.
Really wish it would return like this, but I doubt it since everything is class-based now and most people just use their starting weapon.
I don’t love this idea, because, while it does add some unique flair to certain maps (particularly maps like Gorod Krovi that have multiple map specific guns, including an absolute classic like the PPSH-41), it’s just a completely arbitrary and artificial means of achieving that goal. I think a much better idea would be to introduce map-specific killstreaks, equipment, and lethal equipment (and stuff like the cursed talisman from Terminus) obtained via small sides EEs or the box which are tailored specifically for the maps they appear in. Things that are kind of like specialist weapons from BO3 and the Hell’s Retriever/Redeemer from Mob that add flair and personality to the map, but also have a reason not to appear on other maps. As opposed to guns (except wonder weapons) which really should just be able to be used on every map. I think a similar thing can be said of perks which should just be a cross-map shared feature, though perhaps specific maps could have in-match upgrade quests for specific perks to enhance their performance kind of like what the hats did for certain perks in BO3.
I like them but they need to be on theme
Tommy gun on mob ✅
MG08 on Origins ✅
Scorpion Evo on origins ❌
Razorback on ZnS ❌
Yes. One of the only things that’s imo, separated zombies from the other modes. And now it’s gone more or less thanks to Warzone…
Yes they make the map stand out more
I think it adds additional charm and incentive to play the maps, and most map exclusives like the SCAR-H, M1927, KSG, Peacekeeper MK2, are pretty solid weapons if not the best bullet weapons for the maps they’re on. Sadly it’s probably not gonna happen with how the series is being handled wanting to make the weapon selection as familiar as possible between maps.
Maps having different guns is what made them so unique and replayable. It also helped reduce box dilution. I absolutely loved bo2 for it. It actually made me wanna use the box on every map and even on the later bo3 maps.
Loudouts, scorestreaks, specialists, and everything else make this modern cod era so bland. Even looking at zombie maps only and ignoring how zombies, campaign, multiplayer, and warzone bleed into each other. Genuinely, the only difference worth mentioning between maps is the wonder weapon and maybe the special zombie if it’s particularly annoying. This leads to (for me at least) having no intrinsic motivation to play anything different than whatever map has the easiest set up to start high rounding on. I’ve spent 90% of my hours of bo6 playing liberty falls becomes it has the least annoying pack a punch instead of wanting to interact with what minimal new content gets added on new maps.
I just want the weapons to be carefully selected like they were before in WaW-BO2. BO3 onwards seemed to include as many weapons as possible instead of having some doodoo weapons to avoid in the mystery box to really make the gamble worth it.
I feel like adding weapons to all maps is objectively better for the game but man I do miss having map exclusive weapons. It made the maps feel so much more unique especially when they were wall weapons. They could kinda bring it back by having more map exclusive wall weapons that are only in the box in other maps but even that doesn’t really help when wall and box weapon have both been made redundant with loadout weapons.
