Well, then Visa Japan’s CEO can fuck right off

  2. Literally no one cares what a porn site accepts for payment. Hell, no one even looks unless they are buying.

  3. VacantThoughts

Their whole brand is “you use our card to buy things”, has anyone ever thought of Visa as a wholesome family company? The fuck.

  4. arlondiluthel

You can fuck right off about “protecting the brand”. You’re a payment processing company, nobody gives a shit what the payment is for as long as it’s legal. Most ‘normal’ people don’t have the means of going “oh, Visa is allowing X? Let me *change banks* to one that uses MasterCard instead”.

  5. HUMBUG652

Who has ever seen someone buy a porn game with their own money and blamed Visa?

  6. SaiyanRajat

IIRC, Visa’s business model is being a payment processor, not moral policing anyone.

  7. cuftapolo

There’s loads of nudity in shows and movies on streaming platforms. Will they disable payments for those too?

  8. FluffySheepCritic

I’d say bending over for moral control freaks would be a bigger threat to “the brand”, but okay…

  9. Dragoneer1

moronic statement, noone sees Visa and thinks OH SHIT thats the company that lets you pay for porn games, eeeew!

  10. Can’t you buy guns with it(probably not in japan tho)?

  11. What the hell is this? They are payment processor! That’s utility company. What’s next? “We don’t support selling pink clothes, that’s gay and that’s against our values.”

  12. WarlanceLP

no, if anything it hurts the brand, no one gives a fuck about the payment processor for content, until they stop doing what they’re supposed to

  13. A_Monkey_FFBE

Who tf is judging visa for someone buying hentai and other adult content?

  14. Sounds like an issue for people buying things in Japan with Japanese Visa cards.

Other countries and cultures can find whatever they want morally acceptable or unacceptable. As for my country, my low opinion of banks and credit card companies has nothing to do with what kind of porn you can buy with their credit cards. Them thinking they have any moral ground to stand on only makes me think less of them.

  15. Sentient-Pancake77

I’m sure visa has never over charged, erroneously over drafted, stolen funds, or faced any other kind of violations.

    Totally moral company.

  16. MCMC_to_Serfdom

Stop processing payments for goods bought from countries committing war crimes then. 🤷

    No?

  17. SmileySadFace

Damn I thought we all agreed that we used Visa because we identified with their company values and morals and not because they almost had an online banking monopoly.

  18. TriniumBlade

Your whole brand is being an efficient way to process payments to buy/sell stuff.

What we sell/buy is not part of your brand.

  19. rabidsalvation

This is fucking stupid. These fuckers need to stay out of our personal decisions.

    Burn corpo shit!

  20. AgentUnknown821

Oh but I see it’s okay to use your Capital One Business Visa card if you need to ship weapons to your opposition faction that achieve your power-projection goals of Authoritarianism or Democracy…

  21. Mall_of_slime

Some people are disgusting with their porn games but puritans telling other people how to live their lives in always some bullshit. Maybe Japan is hella desperate to get its worked to death citizens to have babies for the future labor force.

  22. Zunderstruck

He’s right, every day I hear people saying “I’ll immediately stop using my visa card because other people can buy porn with it”.

  23. Then I say that taking a look at other payment solutions is necessary to keep freedom from companies that shouldn’t intervene in these kind of choices.

GNU Taler would be great if it had more support, so let’s show some support to it and try to make people aware of why it would be a better idea than visa, and with enough people supporting it maybe we would have a chance with governments maybe taking a look into it like switzerland did.

  24. not_wall03

If steam called their bluff would visa and mastercard follow through?

  25. If recent events show us anything, a company, politician, celebrity, or public figure going all in on restricting the use of a product, service, or personal choice is an indicator that they’re doing some moral grandstanding to hide their own shame.

Visa Japan’s CEO is into some weird shit.

  26. CloudHiro

funny enough they arnt lying. horrible as it is it is to protect the brand…from lawsuits.

basically when very illegal shit I won’t get into ended up on a porn website you use payment processors like visa on, in the lawsuit visa was somehow liable even though they had nothing to do with the illegal stuff or no way of knowing about it.

ever since then if its something that could remotely be considered illegal somewhere even though most places have fiction doesn’t equal reality laws for that sort of thing, they nope out. im sure they have some personal puritan opinions that makes the decision easier but a company doesn’t care as long as it gets paid and doesn’t end up in a lawsuit.

  27. Protect the brand? You pick VISA because you have to, not because of the brand.

The brand is only important in a market not controlled by essentially two players.

  28. Heroshrine

What the fuck?? Why does one company get to dictate what people can or can’t buy.
