There’s quite a lot of America that doesn’t have them either. I moved recently and my new city has one and it’s magical for sure.

I guess SCAN doesn’t exist anymore
Adventurous-Hotel305
I miss the days of being able to walk into PC World to get something I needed for a PC and go straight home. It’s now all 3-5 day delivery. As for car boots, yeah no lol I’ve seen everything from blow up sex dolls sealed a bag with tape for £5 to a broken iPhone for £300 (couldn’t remember his password and just needed a new screen).

Buying computer parts in a physical store is such a foreign concept to me, I’ve been shopping online ever since my first self-built PC

Micro Centers aren’t actually that common in the US. Most people don’t live near one.
mcdougall57
Where you getting boot sales? The decent ones near me were getting raided for pirate materials or the land sold for development.
It used to be the best place for getting your consoles chipped.
vivainvitro
You laugh, but there is a generation of us who had to go to “Computer Fairs” to get parts
HandsomeSquidward98
There’s a Scan about a 5 min train ride from me. There’s also this magical thing called the Internet
half-baked_axx
In America we got car boot sales of guns at least lol. No ID or any paperwork required.
__TheWaySheGoes
In Canada we have Canada Computers. Is there nothing like that in Europe?
chipface
Canada Computers has more locations than Micro Center.
Specimen_E-351
There are local ones that are really good in addition to the big ones people are naming, which are all great.
iceixia
Scan, CCL to name but two.
It’s not like we don’t have computer stores here.
CuttyThe916er
Lol, OP thinks MicroCenter is everywhere like Best Buy, if only he knew. 😂
Alternative-Cod-9197
I have Scan computers nearby, closest we can get.
IsJaie55
Ahh, you meant no microcenter in europe
MeeepMorp
It’s even worse in Ireland. I hate it here lol
Appropriate_Jump_579
Closest MC near me is a 4 hour drive and I live in the US. I dont even have a Bestbuy near me anymore.
Carlos_Danger21
Hate to break it to you but there are only 29 Microcenters in the entire US, spread throughout 19 states. The closest one to me is a 3 hour drive. I’m sure most people here just use the Internet to buy pc parts.
Crocs_And_Stone
It’s nice af when building a PC and running into issues. Can drive 20 mins to grab another ram stick while waiting for Newegg to accept my return. Otherwise, I shop online for everything because of deals except the mobo/cpu since microcenter sell bundles of those for cheaper than buying them online or separately.
Isopod_Gaming
I’ve never stepped foot into a microcenter, I hope to one day
poweredbyford87
I’m lucky enough to live fairly close to a Microcenter, but my debit card starts sweating every time I drive by it lol

As a Microcenter customer, I am sorry for your lack of Microcenters UK. For anyone who loves tech, going to Microcenter gives you the chills and feels like going to the toy store as a kid! Mines two hours away but I make a good day trip of it anytime I go!

We have Scan Computers if ur near Bolton. It’s a pretty good physical store, good stock, decent prices and knowledgeable staff. Would recommend it! Has tons of gaming keybored out that you can try like you see at microcentre, driving and flight sims and loads of amazing builds all over the place, its my favourite place but I have to limit how often I go as its to tempting haha!
Oh, it’s worse than that. I took a bus to the next town over to go to PC World because I needed some thermal paste. They don’t stock it.
I remember when they used to be a pretty good place to get parts and repairs, not just laptops, tablets and a tiny selection of peripherals.
MrOliber
My AIO pump failed today, I couldn’t find any local retailers that had stock of an AM4 compatible cooler without it being ‘collect in 2 days’, ended up ordering from Amazon for next day delivery.
It’s a sad state of physical stores in the UK.
cowbutt6
There used to be some good trade counters: Dabs in Bracknell and Bradford, SMC in Slough, and Novatech had a few at their peak. Even Dixons/Currys/Carphone Warehouse/PC World and Argos sold some parts at one time.
There are still a few trade counters left, but they all seem to be Oop North, I guess because land/rent and labour is cheaper.
