Buying them from corporate behemoths with guaranteed futures like Microsoft or Apple will *kinda* ensure access for the next few decades, but then again, nothing will equal physical media as far as “ownership” over the stuff you pay for. That’s a fact
The last time I rented a movie on the Xbox store it PLAYED THE WRONG FUCKING MOVIE

I never bought anything from them except games.
Could just buy physical on occasion deals. Have a collection of movies in your basement or storage after ripping them to a drive. I know quite a few people that do this, yeah its tedious but they always have a huge collection of popular stuff on hand.

I bought a bunch of games and some movies on my Xbox that are no longer available. They just STOLEN my money. Digital formats are the biggest scam in the world.
Check eBay for cheap Blu Ray players. I’m buying a region free one soon.
I have never seen a company more interested in making itself obsolete than Microsoft/Xbox.
Why did they do this? There was no warning.
Wish they kept selling movies/shows, for me it was the best way to keep up to date on anime shows while waiting for the physical release. Sometimes it takes almost a year then the bluray/dvd comes out. Also some don’t even have physical releases. I guess I am going to have to get a crunchyroll subscription, maybe they will add that to the rewards.
