In my opinion it’s overplayed, stale, and boring to watch in the pro scene. It would be cool to see some changes to it and bring in newer maps in its place
fwiw I don’t think anyone wants it out for good, but now that Valve is doing map pool changes every six months I don’t think one stint out would do the map any harm
Same as people here praise overpass to oblivion, yet nobody plays it. Reddit is a small minority.
Same reasons why dust2 was the most played in the past (before the rework): it’s a classic and it plays well, both in a technical (high fps) and gameplay aspect.
Reworking/removing mirage would cause a dip in the player-base for sure, which is what happened with dust2.

premier games are like 1 in 2 mirage. ridiculous for a 7 map pool

Because it’s one of the best FPS maps of all-time. Opportunity for in-depth team play but also solo performances, and easy to understand. Only unpopular on reddit because it’s been played out
Because a decent chunk of players are tired that we have all these maps yet you queue faceit and get mirage 5 games in a row. This can get old really quick.

That’s specifically the biggest reason I want it removed. I think it’s a good map, but god it feels so fucking stale to me. I just want something different than nonstop Mirage/Dust II.

Because players won’t learn the other maps and instead just play Mirage and Dust and then it compounds and all the other maps just get banned more and more.

It’s played by a lot of non-English speaking people and those generally aren’t on Reddit. Also the minority is usually the loudest, while people who enjoy the game just play.
I want it out because it’s been in for 13 years and still looks the same as it did in 2013. Take it out for a season or two, then bring it back with a new coat of paint
Imo it needs to go out, not because it’s a bad map, but because we need a break from it. We’ve seen thousands of the same strat iterations over and over again.
It will also force the playerbase that are 100% Mirage/D2 to play something else and stop writting “GG I TROLL” every time they are not playing a sand map.

Because the people here are not representative of the broader player base and no one said it needs to go because it’s unplayed but because it’s overplayed and suffers the same problem as dust 2. It’s a fine balanced map but it’s been the same forever and those of us who’ve been playing for 10+ years are just a bit sick of it. It’s the only map that has never been out of the pool.
I’m still hoping it goes in the next cycle for hopefully +cache (I bought in to whoever said +cache would be the best move to make the masses more okay with it)
People who play mirage do not complain about it.

I enjoy playing mirage but I believe it is good to rotate things in & out as well. It can be a popular map while people also wanting to see some new or returning maps

I’d argue Mirage and D2 are the most played because they are the maps that take the least brain power to play in pugs.
