Robborboy
Not me snagging a 7700XT for the 12GB VRAM.
popop143
3060 12GB in 2021 was selling for like $550-$600, not sure that was a great purchase back then. Maybe after the crypto crash at the start of 2023, that was a nice time to buy a GPU before the AI craze went full tilt.

Well both 4060 and 5060 have the Ti version with 16GB.

Didn’t 1060 also have 6gb version ?

My 6gb 2060 runs everything i need to perfectly fine.

I just thought it was a good card at a decent price to complete the rig I bought off my work friend, who knew that it would have this unexpected boon.

They bought 3060 for a price of 7900xtx/4080 today.

I’m still rocking that EVGA 3090 and by the looks of it I’ll continue to do so until I build a new AM5 based gaming PC in a few more years.

2016 GTX 1060 6GB should fit in this list as well.
If you want to say “MeMoRy Is ExPeNsIvE” then consider the fact that the 2015 GTX 960 was 2GB, and just a year later they had no problems bumping up this budget model from 2GB to 6GB because 2GB was unusable with 2560×1440 and 3440×1440, both of which were starting to become more common and in the case of the former, relatively cheap back in 2015. My first 2560×1440 was some asian glossy screen import around 2012 and less than $300.
The first 3440×1440 was announced in 2014, and I picked it up foolishly with a GTX970 SLI setup that had only 4GB of vram but 1/8th speed for the last 512MB… let’s just say I never went with SLI/Crossfire ever again after that and I took vram more seriously.
We’re stuck at 16GB now because realistically with RT and all the inefficient engines powering modern AAA titles, 4k native rendering is not practical and upscalers let them compress or otherwise use lower quality texture data all day, filling it in with whatever the model tells it to at runtime.

Still rocking my 11GB 1080Ti and happy as a clam.

A year back I considered replacing my RTX 2070 Super to a 3060 due to VRAM lol, even though the 3069 on benchmarks seems slightly weaker on other departments

When i look at review and benchmark, i’m still staggered that my 3060 12GB did better than some newer 4000 and 5000 series

I managed to get 3060ti for msrp during crypto craze. I wanted to upgrade to 9060xt/5060ti. But man, 35-40% performance uplift after 2 generations is do useless. And that makes the vram is the only reason for an upgrade. I guess waiting for the next gen. If you think about it, 3060ti is 50% faster than 2060super. And now you get less than that after 2 generations. What an absolute bs.
AngryAccountant31
I actually have one of those cards in my old rig because I “upgraded” to a A770 16Gb.

Current PC building is an absolute joke. I might go back to console when my current rig dies. I’m sick of half assed PC ports and shitty hardware that’s insanely overpriced.
