I was just getting out of rehab and moved into a sober living around the same time as this guy named Michael. I was smoking a cigarette and he came outside to join me. He introduced himself and we start getting to know each other.
He tells me he’s into video games, and I asked him what kind of video games? The first thing he said was Counter Strike. That’s when I knew I had met a brother. I start geeking out, I have over 3000 hours on csgo, and explained to him that while in my addiction, I ended up selling my PC and have just been itching to click heads. He tells me he’s got a setup and that I could use it, but he just needs to bring it over from his mom’s house. A couple days later and we’re shooting heads on this little dell xps with a 1650 super and r5 3600. 6 months goes by, and I purchased his entire setup; PC, desk, and peripherals for $300.
I made this post because I was feeling FOMO that some of my friends are upgrading their PCs. I cant afford to build a PC right now since I am about to move, and it would cost too much to buy a whole new system, since this current build is so archaic. But guess what? For 1 year 6 months and 18 days, Ive been sober. Life isn’t perfect but it’s better than before. I may not have what I want, but I have what I need. 90fps on CS2 has never felt better lol.
Shoutout Michael. You a real one fam.

People seem to upgrade their pc a lot nowadays and swear you have to be on the latest generation of hardware.
If your pc is doing what you want it to do then no need to upgrade. Once it stops doing that, then you can look at a new system and hopefully you’ll be prepared.
Good job on staying sober brother.
Congrats, king. You’re killing it. Keep clicking those heads brother!
Looks good man! I hope you’re having fun with it!
As a single dad with a past with addiction and trauma, sometimes playing a few games with some buddies will give you an immense amount of peace.
Keep up the good work man! One day at a time!
The struggle is real. For about 8 years I was using an intel 7700k with a 1070ti. Now (as of 3 days ago) I was able to get a new rig with a 9800x3d, gigabyte oc 9070 xt. Asus prime b850 motherboard, 64 gigs of Kingston fury ddr5 ram. All powered by a 1000watt be quiet power supply.
Good things happen when they happen friend! Keep that chin up!
keep taking yourself serious…I’m proud of you
I’m 24 hours sober. I’m on my second night of no rest so keep going. It gets easier
Over 50% of Steam HW Survey contributors are still gaming in 1080p. It might seem like everyone’s using a 3080 or better but that’s not the case.

That’s all that really matters. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
Btw, nice rig!
