Seriously though, for basic desktop use something like Linux Mint is way easier than Windows. There are no pop-ups about Edge, OneDrive, Office 365, recommended ~~ads~~ apps, widgets and more to confuse the user. You install a browser, a mail client like Thunderbird and enable automatic updates. Maybe LibreOffice. That’s it, they have all they need and an operating system that stays out of their concern.
Really, where Linux is more challenging is for intermediate use, where many users of this sub is. Though it is also rapidly getting better. Once you hit advanced use Linux is easier again.

I had setup Ubuntu on an old laptop of my parents since it was getting slow with Windows. They aren’t tech savvy, but since most things they do is from a browser they didn’t have any issues.
