am i the only one who didn’t realize Claire was trans? for the past 5 years i hadn’t realized until i decided to try her missions and noticed a big ole trans flag decaled on the back of her truck.

Repping any of the flags doesn’t necessarily mean you are what the flag you’re repping (allies do exist!) but yes in lore Claire is trans. 💙🩷🤍

  2. the-red-scare

She mentions it briefly in conversation after you’ve known her a while

  3. considering the amount of times ive seem this post, no, your not alone

  4. ScreamingmadJoe

I was about to make a joke being like “no no you don’t get it the truck is trans” but considering some cars in universe have ai that seem capable of borderline sentience, like my best friend Delamin…there’s a non zero chance that in cyberpunk that could happen

  5. nytefox42

Yup, and with the body conversion tech they’ve got in Cyberpunk, transitioning can be as close to complete as possible. I’d almost be willing to put up with the corporate dystopian hellscape for that. Almost.

Claire is good rep. Doesn’t make a big deal of it. Just a casual mention in a conversation and the sticker on her ride. Like, visibility in media is good, but also seeing a world where it really is just treated like a normal thing is also good. And, hell, in the TTRPG, people get full body mods to turn into furries ( Jealous of that too ), so gender transition is a pretty small thing.

Fun fact; Strongly suggested that Jago SzabĂł from Phantom Liberty is too!

  7. Only dialogue that points to it is her mentions of transition/surgery.

It’s also mad that she probably achieved her transition fully ganic in a world where it would probably be quicker and easier to just get a load of implants to assist. Just interesting personality for a side char

  8. JoJoisaGoGo

Well if you didn’t do her missions, I can see why you missed it

  9. One_Simple_Automaton

Considering the tech of 2077 get def transitioning has to be a breeze all thing considered.

  10. Kyky_Geek

There is (half) one inside too! I play and drive in FPV and never saw that or the one on the tailgate. I only saw the tailgate because I overjumped her truck and ended up behind it and whipped around to see it. She does discuss it once after one of the races.

  11. I got it when I saw the flag on her vehicle.

Didn’t care much, just went “oh ok” lol

  12. Tarushdei

Here’s another cool feature, she’s played by a trans woman as well.

I appreciate how they don’t shove it in your face, like most games that try to be inclusive. Like the other characters, it feels organic and natural, like she’s part of the world rather than a token checkmark on a list.

  13. blastoffmyass

i actually knew pretty early, when she was only known to me as bartender at the afterlife, because i read her in game character database entry

  14. Ok-Inspector-3045

Yeah I caught on after the convo about her transition and her husband.

Ngl, she’s bad asf. Good for her

  15. Took me a second to click(am not LGBT so didnt even register the trans flag at first).
But listening to her dialogue during the racing quests, its in there clearly.

Had no idea until she literally spelt it out to me lol

  16. SparklyPelican

I never noticed, before I saw the flag on the car! I don’t think she mentioned it to me before that. Could be I gonked some dialogue option or I’m going more illiterate than ever.

It’s interesting how this was handled in the game, because in Cyberpunk 2077 gender reassignment operations seems like the norm in but it make sense the way she talk about it. Made me love Claire even more.

I do remember thinking she was cool the first time I met her in the game, so was really happy and surprised to have a quest line with her.

V might not remember her on the first phone call… but I sure did.

  17. Isn’t that kind of the point? She’s transitioned, but that’s just who she is.

She doesn’t make a big deal of it because she doesn’t have to, people just accept who she is. Exactly how it should be.

  18. PennyPlow

I cant comprehend how it would have taken you that long to figure that out

  19. Hypercane_

I was like ooo that bartender is hot maybe I can romance her, then I saw her truck from the back and I was like ooo that trans grease monkey is hot maybe I can romance her. And then she got and remained pissed off after I told her revenge is bad because it’s all consuming and not worth it, and I was like oof dodged a bullet there.

  20. AlarmingAioli3300

Well, if you her missions, she literally mentions her transition. But I don’t blame you. Driving in this game fucking sucks.

  21. VoidLookedBack

So it took you 5 years to finally do her mission? What?

  22. Straight_Ad3307

Wait til you realize you’ve interacted with passing trans people irl and didn’t know it.

  23. pichael289

Buddy this is a game where you can change literally every part of your body, I’m quite sure she’s not the only one. I remember reading a story in a John varley (one of my favorite authors of all time) where they could quickly grow clone bodies and transplant your brain into one and you could do it in an afternoon for cheap. It was all about a woman who did it and how her husband acted, I think she ended up reversing it but in trying to deal with it her husband did it too and it was just nothing special, like it was easy to switch back and forth so like, why not give it a shot? If it’s not for you change back for $60 or whatever.

my favorite part is that she used to be the subs icon, standing in front of the flag, and we would always get one of those fucking scumbags that would come here and bitch about it like… The people in this games setting can, and very much do, turn themselves into a fucking crocodile and shit. And then when you show them this they don’t have any issues with that. What? Switching your fucking species is just fine but not your gender? Like I always knew those types of people were just totally full of shit without a thought of their own but I thought it was a case of them being influenced to thank a certain way… Nope, they are without a single thought, there is zero anything at all behind their fucking eyes, they are literally being told exactly what to think and believe and have absolutely no reasoning behind it. I can’t even call them bad people because they are barely even people anymore…

But it also means that all of their beliefs aren’t worth a shit and can be easily overwritten, so the answer could be as simple as having another “cult of personality” type leader telling them to act like normal decent people and they would change their whole lives and belief system because some charismatic person tells them to and boom problem solved. But it also goes the other way and we could see another Reich rise at any moment for any reason.

And that’s how you write a character. Trans is a little insignificant part of the story and not her whole identity.

  25. flufflogic

I mean, in a world of transhumanism, trans humans would be pretty common.

  26. evelyn_bartmoss

If she wasn’t still grieving her dead husband, I’d say this was one of the biggest missed romance opportunities in the game (also Sandra Dorsett)

  27. Milkshaketurtle79

I knew because I saw it on her truck. I appreciate when characters are written with it being an important part of them, but not the *only* part of them. Honestly though, my headcanon is that in Night City, body alteration is so common (expensive, maybe, but still very common), and the taboos around sex have largely gone away (literally having softcore porn on billboards) so much that I could very well imagine the culture of Night City kind of just not caring about LGBT identies anymore. Not that we wouldn’t exist – we always have and always will – but what even does a word like “transgender” mean when you can walk to the ripperdoc down the street and walk out three hours later with 10 nipples and sword arms? In a place like that, as much as I’d hate to live in NC, I think people would be so uncaring that I wouldn’t feel a need to show pride or stay in my “community”. I imagine it’s just seen as normal.

  28. sgtGiggsy

She literally spelled it out during an important conversation that she was trans. How the hell didn’t you notice?

  29. AFerociousPineapple

Same took me ages. Was honestly a breath of fresh air dealing with a LGBQT character where it wasn’t their whole personality. Claire’s just a cool character through and through, doesn’t matter that’s she’s trans it doesn’t add or detract from her story, it just fills out her character more.

  30. BRO SHE LITERALLY HAS THE TRANS FLAG ON THE INSIDE OF HER TRUCK

  31. _Dazed-and-Confused

I didn’t even notice the flags until she literally told me she was trans lol
As soon as I saw her in the bar, right near the start I hoped she’d be a romance option. I still wish she was but appreciate why not, with her back story

  32. misterrabies

So that means the mission to help the mechanic is a… trans-mission?

  33. PauleAgave95

In the German version imo you can clearly hear it in her voice.

  34. coolkidsclub1898

Yeah you can’t really tell because they hired a woman to voice her
