  1. cable management with 100 zip ties when you have custom length cables and a lot of space is as easy as it can be.
    ^((and a waste of time))

It’s just something you hone in over years of doing cable management lol

  3. WiseLong4499

It’s very easy to get there if you have a case specifically designed for easy cable management.

That and a lot of *tweezers*!

  4. MR_BUBBLEZD

Honestly I think it becomes problematic if you ever have to unplug something.

100 zip ties to cut sounds terrible

Easiest tip I can advise, take your time. It also helps to have a case that’s easily cable managed.

Take some time plan where everything in will be, how the cables will run and take your time, it’s not a race. I know it’s fun to fire the new machine up right away but an extra hour or two – depending how perfect you want it

I’d rather have a rats nest than this. It’s still easier to comb throu than sitting there and snipping a bunch of zip ties because you want to add/remove something.

    That and custom cable lengths.

ZIP ties/tie downs, with custom sized cables and patients. Some cases now come with build in cable routing cut outs on the back to assist with cable management.

Yeah that’s neat, until you have to replace a cable or add a device.

It looks great and all but it’s an extreme waste of time for me because I change components a lot and this would make it 10x harder. Also anytime you run into a hardware issue you’ll want to murder yourself.

Custom cables, patience, a lot of zip ties. It ain’t hard lol.

Also this is imo excessive. You don’t need that many zip ties. You can achieve a similar result with much less and it won’t be a pain in the ass the time you have to swap a component that is connected via cables.

Also pro tip: use Velcro strips instead of zip ties. Much easier to take em on and off.

  11. Thats just asking for a component that uses one of those cables to die

  12. You don’t want that… Chaos is better… If you gonna need to replace single fan or something you will regret this cable management… Becouse it will increase 5 minutes of work to 1 hour or more

  13. No_Professional_3769

Yeah but imagine you needed to replace a fan and you gotta undo all that…

    I’ll say it, I’m anti over-management.

You need to change out something with a setup like this, a few minutes turns into several hours.

I used to be hard on this. Computer desk, living room, inside the case. Yea, no more. It was such a pain to update or replace ANYTHING.

Now, the cables I SEE are managed. Those that I don’t still are, but not to an absurd degree like this.

  15. theroguex

Don’t. Because you’ll hate it so much when you have to fix something.

  16. InvalidPain

This is such a huge investment of time and effort to just cover it with a metal door. Unless you are displaying it or showing it off for some strange reason, I wouldn’t bother. A fan goes out any your undoing like 75% of it and wasting like 40 zip ties 😆

  17. Cable ties and lots of them.

Good for PCs you want to sell, **a fucking disaster** for PCs you want to use and work on.

  18. Sovereign_5409

Cable management like this looks beautiful, but it causes more problems than it solves. Use Velcro zip ties to lock things down, and leave it at that. This is useful for nothing more than some Reddit likes.

The dark side of the computer is a path way to many abilities some consider to be… unnatural

  20. Ditto_is_Lit

The fact of the matter in this picture is that the builder looks to have custom cables, not a sleeved kit but tailored cables with every curve calculated trimmed sleeved and crimped for this setup. You won’t be able to change the mobo without recabling them. Using 50 zip ties is also excessive and a waste when it’s in a compartment nobody other than you would ever see. OCD time trap: If you’re bored and got nothing better to do, go for it but a pita to deal with regardless.

  21. extreme_offense_bot

You know immediately that the person doing this cares more about it pretending to be effective rather than being really effective. You never look behind your case. Ever. Unless something is wrong. If something is wrong the last thing you want to do is cut 500 zip ties and sweat for 7 years after trying to reapply it back when the problem is solved. Dogshit, utter and complete dogshit.

  22. XB_Demon1337

Honestly, this sounds like it is being mean, but it really isn’t.

To do cable like this you just have to not be lazy. The problem? 90% of us just want to get it all together and finished and we don’t care if the back side of our computer looks like a mess because no one will ever see it.

  23. A_PCMR_member

Custom length cables and patience is all that is needed

  24. ahandmadegrin

You already know how to do it. The question is, do you have the patience?

I like a clean build as much as the next guy, but I can’t be arsed to spend this much time routing cables. As long as the air flows and the parts stay cool, I’m happy.

  25. MechAegis

These look like special custom cable that are easy to manage and assorted in a way. All the ones I have are a bit ridged and stiff to bend and look good.

  26. It looks like prefabricated lengths rather than the standard cables that come with pc parts

  27. Honest-Yesterday-675

yup cable management is for clowns. a few pieces of velcro is reasonable though.
