Hey!
I recently switched to controller after years of mouse & keyboard, and I’m looking for advice on deadzone settings.
I’m using a fully equipped controller with 2 paddles, mouse click triggers, and Hall Effect sticks.
Any tips or feedback?

    some context:

I’m still adjusting to controller and trying to find what works best for me. I assigned my two paddles to slide on the left and jump on the right (tried the other way around but this feels more natural).

I’m using the default button layout, with:

    -Melee on triangle
    -Stim on right stick click
    – Weapon swap on L2

Tried playing claw grip, not for me. I also use L1/R1 to aim/shoot, old muscle memory I wanna keep.

    My settings:
    – Auto tac sprint with 2 delay (saw that in a TikTok)
    – Sensitivity: 1.60 / 0.90 ADS
    – Aiming response curve: dynamic (value 1)
    – Movement style: hybrid
    – Currently using instant ADS transition, but thinking about switching to gradual since I used that on KBM

I’ve got brand new Hall Effect sticks, they have about 1% factory drift, so I set deadzone to 1 (apparently that’s normal)

    What I’m struggling with:

-Close-range gunfights — I lose most of them, even though I thought they’d be easier

-Slow micro-adjustments — aim assist helps, but sometimes I think I moved the stick when I didn’t

-Old muscle memory from like 2013, back when I played BO3 split screen at my cousin’s, I still randomly click L3 while sliding and end up dolphin diving like an idiot 😅

Any advice is appreciated! Not a native English speaker so sorry if it sounds a bit ChatGPT-ish 😅🙏

  2. 1.65 sens with 1.00 ADS + dynamic response curve is a good starting point (what most of the pros use)

Min deadzones as low as possible without stick drift

Left stick max somewhere between 60-85% makes movement feel smoother (I use 75% personally)

    Instant ADS transition

    Hybrid movement setting

Auto tac sprint delay at 0% (The 2% thing is placebo)

Engage your left stick at all times. This actives the rotational aim assist, which is super OP.

    As a controller player,
If you have 4 paddles use jump/slide in opposite side (right left paddle). Same goes for reload/swap weapon. (If only 2 then slide/jump is enough).

Avoid adding sensitivity multiplier now. Because you really get slowed down so much due to aim assist more than MnK. Which is a disadvantage (for me) since you are new to this, it will take some time to adjust to it, add it if you find it comfortable.

Find the best spot for stick sensitivity. Do some private matches with bots, compare your results and you will probably get a conclusion after that.

Plating cancel while running – off
Reloading cancel while running – off
follow those kinds of smaller settings from any available YouTube tutorial to get the best result out of it.

Rest is up to you, experiment with settings based on your play style.

    My stick deadzone
    Left: 1%-65%
    Right: 1%-99%

Power A Battledragon advantage (cheaper budget Friendly pro controller) with default 1% stick drift.

  4. -Melee on triangle
    -Stim on right stick click
    – Weapon swap on L2

^ this sound weird but if it works for you its fine.

Stay on instant, it feels much better when you get used to it.

Everything else sounds like you just need to practice, a lot.

Play vs bots on bo6, set health to 200 and just grind your arse off. Thats what i did. Played nonstop 2 weeks and i nearly doubled my KD.

I also bought KontrolFreek thumbgrips and they helped a lot.
