I mean ye but i dont se a reason for companies to do it

  2. alasdairvfr

If its a remaster that costs more than the original release, it sure as shit better include all available content!

  3. The original is usually dirt cheap or easily emulated. If you wanted to play the original, you would have done so by now.

  4. Imdefinitlynotconnor

Yeah, the only company who does it right is 2k and recently R*

  5. New-Let-3630

as much as I hate rockstar, they did give legacy with enhanced and that’s cool

  6. Ralph090

I will not change your mind. You are right, and a law requiring that should be enacted.

  7. Wilbizzle

You make me subscribe to a game. You remove the constant purchase addons and provide skill based activities, and im in.

Not grinding actual objectives or events.

    Basically, make destiny, but openl

  8. SadistPaddington

Remakes should have discounts for original supporters who bought the original, and more than just a month before buying the remake. Reward those who helped support the original

  9. greatthebob38

But then how will the corpos milk people for that extra $10-20 and create that artificial hype for the “Gold/Complete/Master Edition” afterwards?

  10. Sion_forgeblast

they use to…. remember when Baldurs Gate got a remake? company legit sued GoG cuz the original was selling like 10x better than the remake, so GoG pulled an sneaky and even thought hey were forced to stop selling the original, they included the original with every sale of the remake

depending on the platform / game this would require rebuilding the game from scratch to suit that architecture

    eg: ps2 sh2

  12. Warcraft_Fan

What if the original were coded for different OS? ie DOS version that won’t play natively in modern Windows because the original game was 16 bits.

  13. CompetitionUpbeat229

I don’t think they should have to be, but I would enjoy it.

  14. BigBootyBitchesButts

I would if it wasn’t destroyed and unplayable lmfao.

it legit was in a FUBAR state. just exploded.

  15. OarsandRowlocks

The Bard’s Tale trilogy did exactly that.

  16. Positive_Composer_93

Yup. Can we start a ballot initiative?

Need a lawyer to tell me how that works.

  17. Massive-Exercise4474

Remakes are usually because of losing licensed music. Essentially games stop paying for the music and then gets delisted or gone in remakes.

  18. Bubby_Doober

Why do that when you can sell the original to the few people that care for $5.99?

  19. genericdefender

    Remastered, totally.

Remakes? It depends. Games like the FF7 remake series don’t have to include everything for obvious reason.

  20. Fit-Rip-4550

It doesn’t work for a lot of remakes. Lost source code, poor emulation makes it incompatible with modern systems, too much data to include it…

  21. Why_not5173

Goat sim remastered did this very well.

  22. Orruner

Homeworld Remastered did this 10 years ago and It makes me sad that the practice hasn’t caught on

  23. Artevyx

This seems like it should already have been done at least once.

  24. unpopular opinion: stuff should be free

    change my mind

  25. Relevant-Chip5446

That’s actually possible, if you’re willing to pay more for the remake. Don’t demand more if you’re not willing to pay, just like with $80 games

  26. ..that’s not how that works.

Ok if they remake, say. Evil Zone on the Ps1. how are they going to give you the original game? There not going to remaster the Ps1 version for your convenience for free. They could chuck an emulated version in there, build a little spot for it, Like tekken 5 did for Tekken 1-3 back on ps2. but then your subject to emulation issues, specially for a fighting game thats bad. The disc is Semi-rare at around $100-$120 so sure as shit is going to get you no real disc.

also a lot work goes into a remake, it is after all making a whole game from scratch.

And while a Remaster is simpler, just updating old code and graphics to look a bit better, at that point being minor upgrades that remasters generally are, whats the point in giving you a PS1 version? When you have an updated PS1 game that looks and runs better

Let me at least say, im not against the idea and i do support it and some games have a variation of this though “add-on/DLC” is a poor choice words, when it would in all cases be it’s own application.
