I guess you pay for them to have the right to revoke your access to your game.
Sounds like a great bargain /s

For how long people are gonna say this shit? Piracy is NOT stealing regardless

Hey! Money dictates the laws, not you. Besides, it’s only stealing if you get caught.

If you like a game enough to want to play it wouldn’t you want to support the people who made it so they can keep making more?

The fine text says you bought the license to use it. And piracy will always be a crime. But I’m not against you pirating, but remember that you aren’t actually owning the game, you just have the license to use it so complain about the license, not the lack of owning
ChocolateSpecific263
but if you would own the game you could legally make a copy of it and give it away

Piracy is morally correct if the rights holders are asshats, support your local cracking groups where you can

I hate this sentence. While I understand what people are TRYING to say, you undermine it by using this phrase.
Because yes, piracy is indeed not stealing. Stealing is taking something away from the rightful owner, so they no longer have access to it.
Piracy is making a COPY of that thing without the rights to do it (copyright).
So yes, piracy is NOT stealing, and that means, yes, buying is NOT owning, if we follow the logic of the phrase.

Correct, it’s not stealing. It’s copyright infringement.

does it even work? Could you have played with a pirated copy of, say, Battlefield ?
Or are we talking about pirating all games ? Which ones should I pirate ? Ubisoft, EA? Is there no risk?

Okay, so no one charges you with stealing then. They charge you with pirating. What is the point of this argument.
Do you also think copying a rented movie doesn’t count as pirating, since you never owned the rental? Or bootlegging a movie in a theater, since you didn’t own the movie there either? Yes, pirating isn’t stealing, it’s pirating, and it has nothing to do with whether the person who legitimately paid for it owns it.

Fixed it:
If buying a game is purchasing a nontransferable license, then pirating is using an unlicensed copy without permission.

Uhhh actually true

I dislike this whole practice as much as anyone, but using false equivalency is not going to win you anything useful. If buying a game dose not mean you own it, dos not mean prating is suddenly legal. Many of these companies are treating the sale of the game as a sale of a license instead of a copy of a product, like paying for your drivers license, it expires after a time. You can’t go and steal one for yourself. I hate it, and the laws need to be changed to stop this kind of behavior but spouting logical fallacies isn’t helping.

I understand the intent.
But it’s not correct in any way. You pay for a license to play the game. If you pirate the game, you’re stealing the license.
