It’s been over a month since Elena and the Season 3 patch dropped for Street Fighter 6. Players have begun to get a good feel for the new meta, though many would argue that it feels pretty similar to Season 2 gameplay.
In a recent video, BST|Daigo Umehara elaborated that he’s still sticking with Akuma rather than choosing Ryu or Guile. During this conversation, Daigo revealed which three characters people feel are the strongest in Street Fighter 6 right now.
“As far as I’ve seen with Akuma, I think he’s probably top 3,” begun Daigo. This would certainly explain why Daigo has continued to stick with Akuma even though he received some light nerfs in the Season 3 update.
“At REJECT, the characters people talk about being the strongest are JP, Akuma and I guess Mai. That’s the vibe.”
Overall, Daigo believes that Akuma has the potential to the strongest overall as he ideally has advantages over the rest of the cast, but he and JP are said to be more difficult to use compared to Mai.
“The thing is, I think Mai is pretty accessible, but with Akuma and JP, it takes a long time to get to a point where they feel that strong,” continued Daigo. “They don’t feel easy to pick up. So, while Akuma and JP may be strong, it’s hard to switch over to them.”
Daigo also acknowledged how strong Ed and Zangief feel right now. He noted that there was a minuscule gap between them and the aforementioned top 3, implying that they could be sitting in the top 5.
