That is a weird one, is there a portion of your name that means something else in another language? I understand how frustrating it can be to be told no to a name you have used for ages.
MSD3k
Ah, obviously it’s because it contains the word “audio” and might offend deaf people /s
MrDeeJayy
I’m HOPING that the prohibited word is “dio” and really EA just likes anime and hates vampires.
In reality I think theres no logic behind it, some overworked dev probably just got a massive list of “bad words” and wrote a nasty lazy function to fuzzysearch the given username for any bad words.
Therabidmonkey
Activision banned my reddit username for being racist. I certainly was not thinking about black guys when I picked this name so who’s the real racist here?
1ns3rtn1ckn4m3
Had the same thing happen in Minecraft recently. Apparently my (common European) first name is offensive. Ridiculous
Stinkinhippy
Did you accidentally put a space on the end? Im struggling to come up with anything within the name that would trigger a censor bot.
Thelelen
Maybe dio (God in Italia)? Sei italiano vero
AverageChloroform
I asked AI and it found Dio – god in Italian, i dont think thats offensive
ThayerRodar
I might be calling myself out here a bit, but it could be the middle portion “omora” or even just “omo” which could both be filtered out as shorter versions of the word “omorashi” which is a japanese fetish term for gaining arousal through pissing yourself.
KingGorillaKong
My name is prohibited to be used in EA sports games for custom players because it has 4 letters with the soft N-word, no double Gs.
To make it worse, I share the same last name as a goaltender in the NHL who is in the game and the name is there and has audio files speaking the name.
EA refuses to whitelist my last name, so I’ve been boycotting EA ever since they implemented that word filter.
EDIT: Fixed typos.
europendless
“Diomora”=“die god!” (imperative conjugation) in Italian, right? Or close to it if I recall. Anyways, that’s my only guess
PurpleOsage
My subspace name was “childmolestingclown” for several years before I was forced to change it in 2002… was a sad day. Lost an account I had created in 1997 when the game first came out. Looking back… it was still funny. Wrong, yes, funny? Also yes.
wmverbruggen
I’ve heard Englisch girls that couldn’t use their real names because it happens to be equal to the German word for jews…

I tested it out of curiosity and:
– claudiomoravit gets flagged
– claudiomoravi is fine
– laudiomoravit is fine as well
It seemed like it was the last letter “t” that triggered it so I replaced it and:
– a, b, c, e works
– d, f doesn’t work
After “f” the site stopped displaying whether it was okay or not, I guess the algorithm shuts off when too many requests for verification happen one after another
My guess would be that their algorithm flags the whole name as a sneaky way to write something else. No idea what it would be though
Rivenaleem
Ah, the old Scunthorpe problem.
foomongus
My username, foomongus is banned in some apps and stuff. Extremely rarely though, cause apparently “mon” or “mong” is a slur of some sort. Still don’t know what
ttom1323
Honestly, I think the algorithm saw “Mora” (Spanish for Moor, feminine) and thought it was being used as a racist insult
That’s my best guess, but it doesn’t make sense anyways because Mora is also the name for a type berry in Spanish so…
Yeah, fuck big corpo
FrogBiscuits
Reminds me of Dark Souls 2 censoring the name of their own in-game NPC. His name was Knight. It got censored to K***ht.
These systems are ridiculous.
Shyno35
Maybe Claudio gets flagged as a real Name. Which seems to be not allowed. As written on the support Page from EA “For player safety, an EA ID also can’t contain a name or any other identifying information.”
Fignapz
I have an online ID that’s Spooky_[noun]. Think like Spooky_Cat, Spooky_Dog, Spooky_Fish, Spooky_Deer.
Totally innocuous, profile pic matches. A lot of times I get filtered or censored because of Spook being in it.
For the innocent minded, it’s a slur for black people, a little more “old school” for lack of a better term.
I just find it funny because sometimes it’s all asterisks. Sometimes it’s ****y_[noun]. Although I’ve never been denied making the ID.
fuzzypyrocat
I couldn’t use my usual username because apparently fuzzy is inappropriate. Pyro was fine, but fuzzy crossed the line
VanderPatch
More importantly:
PAsswords start at 8 characters.
Only numbers als letters. No special characters allowed…. Talking about security.
ProtoJazz
I remember signing up for a game once, and ProtoJazz was blocked for “Containing profanity”
I have no idea how or why
But I DID accept the name I tried after, “DolphinRapist”
live-the-future
Wait, EA has prohibited *characters*? Now I’m curious.
Luculus04
yeah feel that, had that also happen many times when I try to go by luculus that it just gets blocked here and there.

AlistarDark
My Reddit name is not allowed on many services now. I cannot make a new account in a lot of online games. This isn’t just an EA thing.
Why? Because it has the letters “tard” in the middle.
FR33-GUY
My name, which is always open on every game normaly was used…so i tried to add i in the end…. After 12i it was available….wth. after that i checked and looked for accounts….noone has my name. Dunno what EA is doing

You should have seen the chat filters in battlefield 5 at launch.

This is the reason I can’t play warzone either and why I hate modern Activision. 6 year old account and apparently my account name isn’t allowed and I have to *buy a rename token with real money* to change it

Tell me about it … 9 out of 10 times creating a user, they are okay with my user name, but then there is always the Blizzards or EAs of this world who only see ANAL and decline.

Hey, a fellow claudio hello!
chispica
I use the name ‘chispica’ usually, and when its taken i use ‘chispaza’.
EA bans the name chispica for containing the word spic and they ban chispaza for containing spaz.
CoyoteFit7355
After years of it being fine, one day Ubisoft sent me an email that my username was forcibly changed because it wasn’t cool anymore. Poppycock is an English word but suddenly it want ok with the letter half of the word anymore

This just in. Everyone will be playing name tagless. All names and terms are offensive. So from now on you’ll just be known as PC447
