The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 released back in May to revive a new set of arcade classics for the modern age, and it seems to have gotten off to a strong start.
Circana (formerly the NPD Group) just shared their video game industry breakdown for the month of May where the latest Capcom collection managed to make the list of top-selling titles though another major recent fighting game remained absent.
According to the reports shared by Mat Piscatella, the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 hit in the top 20 games in the United States upon release.
It did just barely make the list, however, since the collection came in at 19th place overall, but that still should be a win in Capcom’s book.
Interestingly, this push may have primarily come from Nintendo Switch owners since the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 was actually the second-best selling game on the platform in May.
The game did not chart in the top 10 for PlayStation, Xbox or PC sales though.

This is the second time in the past year that a Capcom compilation has launched in the top 20 with the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection hitting 16th place when it released last September.
For the second month in a row, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves failed to chart on Circana’s rankings in the U.S.
As we mentioned last time, however, SNK is not listed among the publishers that share digital sales data with Circana, so their numbers could theoretically be higher than the rankings suggest.

But after more than two months since launch, we still have no official word yet on how the new Fatal Fury has performed commercially.
There was the one bright spot in that City of the Wolves was among Steam’s top 12 best sellers for April, but it also failed to chart on PlayStation’s top downloads for the month too.
In its home country, Fatal Fury did manage to debut in the top 10 in Japan though it only sold less than 10,000 copies at launch.
So we still don’t really know how the game is doing compared to whatever SNK’s internal forecasts and plans were.
There is one thing clear, though, that these classic Capcom titles still have an audience, so hopefully the company is paying close attention to that.
