I'm kind of a difficulty purist, so I don't typically like when a game gives you powerful weapons at the beginning because you spent money. Anyone know if these are actually balanced for new games? I've just started playing for the first time
no, you’ll replace most of, if not all of, that by like the 5 hour mark
Goonish_Yank
No, they’re nice pieces, but aren’t necessarily “special”. Welcome to NC, Choomigo.
Daniel_Delgado
You can’t use really powerful weapons at the beginning because they either don’t spawn or you don’t have enough street cred, those are basic and common guns
rhn18
Maybe for the first 10-30 mins at most before you can find other weapons. They are not more powerful really than anything else you can find, and you need to upgrade them as you level up as they will start low level just like all other weapons you find.
2.0 changed iconics so they mostly now just have different features and mechanics, rather than being more powerful.
Certain_Effort_9319
Not really. You’ll replace em soon enough. You might use the katana if you’re particularly interested in it but there’s better options pretty early on.
Inconmon
Nope.
Note that I’ve only played at max difficulty but I can tell you it’s poorly balanced. Here’s Max difficulty in a nut shell:
Lv 0-10: Everything is a bullet sponge that kills you almost instantly and you rely on stealth take downs
Lv 10-20: You can kind of fight but because bullet sponge it’s not great.
Lv 20-30: You’re doing alright now, and most enemies are fine as your damage is decent to overcome the sponginess.
Lv 30+: You are god. Nothing can challenge you anymore. Battles have become irrelevant.
It’s kind of silly how they did the difficulty modifiers. It’s like nobody ever playtested any of it.
I’ve done several completionist playthroughs but had to reduce difficulty for the INTRO of the nomad playthrough because I couldn’t do the car chase on max difficulty. I tried like 20 times and gave up. This game really needs a mod that reworks literally everything about combat and difficulty.
VerledenVale
No, but I personally never use those. I don’t use any “gifts” in any game. I prefer to earn the weapons, more satisfying.
neremarine
Not these ones, but in my last playthrough I used the Witcher-themed sword all game, I honestly don’t remember why I got it. It wasn’t breaking the game at any point though, but I never really needed to switch to any of the iconic alternatives.
gogu47
Amstaff is the best shotgun to grind solo xp, Pitbull is my go to AR until Tier 5++ Hawk, the smart smg is bonkers with max perks in smart weapons
SallySpits
Just don’t use them.
The katanas are the only decent ones anyway IIRC.
khaled99948
These scale to your level once you pick it up and it will stay on that level, if you pick it up early they will be replaced after 1 or 2 fights. Even if you pick it up at max level your other weapons will most likely be the better option
christurnbull
I picked up a green satara during the sandra dorsett mission and is better than most of what’s here.
aclark210
Not really, no. Cuz ur gonna find weapons just like them in the early game as well, these are just skins that u might find cooler. The only one u can’t get right off the bat is Scorch, and it’s nothing standout as amazing.
RestlessRhys
They are pretty useless and you will likely replace it very quickly
Adventurous_Touch342
Maybe it’ll make the game like 1% easier, bonuses of those weapons aren’t that important unless you upgrade them but for that you need resources which appear later.
Thick_Show_1031
It’ll make a small difference but really won’t matter, you’ll find better gear and if you still have to get all the perks to make these weapons super effective
MendigoBob
No, you will replace them really early in the game.
And even if they did givo you powerfull items and you felt like they are too powerfull for the early game, you could just not use them.
Sir_DaFuq
Nice beginning so you can try the weapons you like and go from there. Usually, there are much better iconics in the story and from some gigs. And if you have done all frome one fixer, you get some really nice stuff, especially from wakako(if you like blades).
Fayde_M
how did you get all that? ultimate edition?
thejanrey
The fashion items are definitely better to start with than what Vik gives you IMO
mystireon
I ended up running one of the pistols for a lot of the pre-heist early game but that’s about it, everything else got replaced near immediatly
urmyleander
The scorcher can if your playing on VH its surprisingly potent early game on VH.
But given that there is a certain mandatory mission early game that you can’t bring weapons except cyberware into none of them truly trivialise early game.
Plantain-Feeling
Nope
They start on level, they are no better than any of the other iconic items you can obtain for free right at the start
But you can upgrade them so they stay relivant
MobileComfortable663
Hey purist you should sell your ammo away now and then, because you will get toooo many bullets.
Baadepapa22
I got all the rewards but couldn’t find the phantom liberty jacket.
Its all in stash.
Great switch rewards. Love the wolf jacket.
SDBrown7
Scorch and Unicorn are fine and upgradeable, but you’re by no means going to be overpowered early game by using them. Clothing cosmetic and the other weapons are just common rubbish you’ll be replacing very quickly .
Snirion
I liked using witcher sword only, all other things are forgettable.
Knightmare945
No.
partfortynine
Idk those amazon guns level up. But mine are red.
FullOfVanilla
these were definitely for new games, but you’re going to get better guns that enemies drop after playing for like 20 minutes. also you can just choose to not take them from your stash if a quick start really bothers you.
Ripper1337
All of these weapons start at the “common” quality due to them being at the beginning of the game.
You can upgrade these items to higher quality but by the time you have enough resources to do so you’re going to find better and better items elsewhere.
Kurupt_Introvert
No you will be fine. It can still be hard early for you or at least for easier
vector_o
Nope, if anything you’ll quickly realise they’re subpar to normal items you pick up at every corner
