At this point just remove it, possibly it is swollen already and could cause a fire. Even if it is an internal battery the laptop is likely old enough that it isn’t under warranty anymore and use it as a desktop.
In most cases (even if it has an internal battery) it will run completely fine as in laptops the battery is connected parallel so removing it doesn’t cut the circuit (unlike in phones).
