I think they targeted unified default skins, so that each player always has the same default look. Either to better market agents or just to add more fairness to the pro matches by having each player not be distinguishable by their look.
Of course gloves and weapons beat that, but I dunno why else would everyone have a gas mask policeman and a hooded terrorist by default. To add a sense of anonymity?
My favorite faction is Phoenix Conexxion , so I prefer the current set T set.
Maybe we will.get some kind of customization in future.

Yeah it should have been these guys. But the ones we have now are arguably even more iconic. And then they got to sell versions of the leet crew as agents anyway.
If that used the leet crew they would have used one of the two with a full face covering. Same thing if that used the FBI for CTs, it would be one of the two wearing a mask.
The point of the 2 default models is too be as generic of a representation for each side as possible.
That being said both the SAS and Phoenix remakes are very low quality compared to what came after and what its now the modern standard for character design at Valve. And the phoenix variant they used is probably the worst one. The red or yellow shirt one would have been better, the off pink has always look awful.
Am I the only one who thinks that if OP had to post a picture showing Characters where its important to see which he means, he should try a resolution higher than just a thumbnail?
