Road to 8k res

I just think 1440p looks amazing at 27 inches and doesn’t murder my performance too bad. I’ll worry about 4K if I got the UDNA flagship or something…

  2. 8k probably won’t be a thing for a lot of years

gpu’s aren’t powerful enough to drive it, even with upscaling, and the image quality benefits on screen sizes typical of PC monitors are very dubious.

What difference would 8k make today?

    8k res on a 2″monitor at 21fps solid!

I’m just looking forward to the 5k oled coming out next year. Will allow 1440p integer scaling for high fps and 5k for the games with 60fps caps.

I don’t see the point to 8k unless you’re trying to achieve a near “retina” experience on a larger 42″+ display on a desk from a couple feet away.

I feel like we’re just now getting to a point where 4k is realistically achievable at a decent frame rate. I’ve been gaming at 4k exclusively for like 5 or 6 years and it’s been a rough road. Every new generation of GPUs makes it a little bit better but games keep getting prettier and therefore harder to run that getting
100+ fps without FG is an uphill battle.

I only upgraded my PC 2 times in the last 8 years

  8. I dont think we need 8K but 5K on a large 30+ 16:10 display would be nice.

    8k 240hz by 2035. Maybe 4k120, I could live with 4k probably.

Meh, 4k 120hz is the ultimate goal. After that is just waste. And yeah I get that I’m sure some people can tell a difference. Good luck spending the literal tens of thousands to attempt to achieve it.

    4K 43” is where it’s at 😋

The only thing you need is this calculator. Pixel density and view distance will tell you the kind of display you want.

We don’t need 8k. You would have to be so close to the screen to see the difference it just isn’t worth it. Stable high frame rates is all we need.
