During Anime Expo 2025, Guilty Gear Strive Producer Ken Miyauchi expressed his enthusiasm for revisiting one of Arc System Works’ other iconic franchises: BlazBlue. Though known for his work on the latest entries in the Guilty Gear series, Miyauchi-san’s personal connection to BlazBlue makes the idea of returning to the series particularly meaningful.
“I used to play BlazBlue myself before joining Arc System Works,” Miyauchi-san shared. “So there’s definitely a part of me that wants to work on it.”

BlazBlue fans have been vocal about their desire for a new installment, and Miyauchi-san’s comments offer a glimmer of hope. However, he was clear that no official plans are currently in motion. He also noted that BlazBlue creator Toshimichi Mori designed the series’ story with a definitive conclusion.
“Mori-san started from how the story ends and wrote backwards from there,” Miyauchi-san explained. “So the BlazBlue story, for now, has technically ended in a nice way.”
Tori-san left the company in 2022. Still, the door isn’t closed. While Arc System Works is currently focused on expanding the Guilty Gear universe, Miyauchi-san’s remarks suggest that the legacy of BlazBlue isn’t being ignored. Judging by the smile on his face, Miyauchi-san was likely thinking about past BlazBlue memories. I hope he gets the chance to work with Mori-san.
BlazBlue last saw a significant release with BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. There is still hope for the series, given the success of games like BlazBlue: Entropy Effect, which places the characters in the roguelike action genre. Whether that enthusiasm turns into something more is still unknown.
