BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The World Police and Fire Games wrapped up tonight, marking the end of a spirited competition that saw more than 8,500 first responders from over 70 countries, including many from the local area, showcase their skills.

Among the local winners, Oxford Police Officer Miranda Shoening earned a bronze medal in weightlifting. Pell City Police Sergeant Brian Williams also secured a bronze medal in the 3-on-3 basketball event.

Birmingham’s own firefighters and police officers made their mark as well. Firefighter Jermaine Johnson achieved gold in the bench press category, demonstrating exceptional strength and dedication.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office celebrated multiple victories. Their men’s basketball team clinched a bronze medal, while Deputy Ryan Murkerson excelled in golf, taking home the gold. Lieutenant Joni Money added to the tally with a silver medal in women’s bodybuilding.

These achievements highlight the dedication and talent of local first responders, who have not only served their communities but also excelled on the international stage.
