Most consoles didn’t use the USB standard until very recently. Not really a Nintendo thing.

To steal from someone Whittier than me in another thread…. Nintendo are the Apple of the gaming world
Pillbily
If its seen as a problem they may get the apple treatment and have everything on USB-C
IHill
You want them to use the same technology for 25 years?
Perfect-Elephant-101
At least keep your bait relevant to the last decade.
3ds released in 2011.

Nintendo been using the game card media since DS. That format has been around since Sega Master System/ PC Engine

After I lost my Advance SP’s charging brick I just replaced it with a USB adapter cable from ebay, less hassle.

Of all the things to complain about regarding Nintendo, you’re complaining about the charger? It wasn’t even uncommon for devices of these eras to have custom chargers, save for DSi/2DS/3DS.

That’s many years of technological improvements. They aren’t just making changes for funsies, each release is a genuine step forward, unlike technology wars between phones where they’re all basically the same with a slightly improved camera or slightly better screen clarity or battery life.

Man the success of the Switch 2 really mindbroke this sub huh?

OP is obviously young.

Pre USB C this was kinda the norm. The closest we got to standardization was android phones used micro USB no matter the manufacturer. Everything else was manufacturer dependent
FrierenKingSimp
Mate, that’s like 20 years of handhelds, no shot they had different and proprietary chargers, everything did back then. Every phone from every manufacturer would its own charger too. How old are you?

Then there’s Sony regularly changing their formats.
Then there’s Sega regularly changing their formats.
Then there’s Microsoft regularly changing their formats.
Then there’s Apple regularly changing their formats.
Then there’s PCs regularly changing their formats.
Ah, but yes, surely ONLY Nintendo would regularly change their formats.

This might be the dumbest post I have ever seen.

No offense, but are you a little kid? This was common across most devices, let alone nintendo over the course of, what, 20 years and multiple consoles?

I think the DS and the Advance SP used the same ac adaptor connector the DS Lite changed it up. also not pictured are GB and GB Pocket

Apple can beat that, and it was deliberate

Besides the obvious bait and schooling everyone else is giving, OP’s image kinda says the opposite of a format war tho right? Like the GBA SP and OG DS used the same charger, and then DSi – end of 3ds they kept the same charger. Like they used the same charger from 2008 to 2019-ish when they discontinued the 3ds. The only two oddballs are the DS Lite and GBA Micro charger, but neither of those could’ve used the OG DS/GBA charger cause it was just too big. Maybe the Micro and Lite could’ve shared one given enough RnD but that’s long since passed.
Comparatively Sony went through 4 chargers in the span of 2 consoles, where the PSP 1000-3000 had the same, PSP Go had its own, then Vita 1k had its own, and Vita 2k had micro usb. Bonus points where the PSPs technically had mini usb as a charger port too but was a bit harder to get one to spec for charging good back in those days.

I hated having to worry about this man, I’m glad we left that behind and that we’re finally leaving the micro USB era too

Huh… I didn’t know that they made Wolfenstein 3D for the gameboy advance.
